This summer will be my second as a public beach cleaner. Since I've done it once before, I know what to expect... I clean up the mess after all the people that visit the local public beach. That means emptying the trash cans (of course), cleaning the toilets, and the worst part: Cleaning up after all those morons that don't use the trash cans or the toilets. There is a large park area, some bare rock-face areas and three small beaches in the area where I work. Each morning from 7 a.m., I start my work day, a day that consists of picking up a variety of garbage, consisting of broken bottles, dog poo, human poo, vomit, used diapers, used sanitary pads and tampons, all kinds of barbeque leftovers, prawns, crabs and other shellfish, dead seagulls and other deceased birds, roadkills from the road nearby, an occasional dead cat or dog that someone has tried to hide in the bushes along the park area... You name it! After a hot and sunny weekend, the smell from the trash cans can be quite a challenge.
Any other beach cleaners out there? By the way: I live outside of Oslo in Norway.
If anyone from the Dirty Jobs crew read this: I would love it if anyone could remember a comment from Mike that would describe my work!
