I once had a job as an assistant to an airplane mechanic. We had to tear apart this old Cessna that had been sitting by the coast for the longest time. The owner of the airplane didn't want to replace any of the aluminum skins so we had to scrub the corrosion off and put the skins back onto the airplane. Bear in mind that the rivet holes would have stretched a little as the rivets were being taken out and re riveting the skins would have meant figuring out each rivet size as we went along.

This was done over the coarse of six months in a cold hangar. Did I mention that the hangar was on the wrong side and that the sun didn't reach that particular spot?? That year had lots of rain and wind and we had run out of propane in the heaters often. What a miserable way to have to spend your time.
