so the dirtiest thing that i ever did was rescue some kittens from a the sewer beneath the apartment that i lived in. the sump had overflowed into the crawl space and some unlucky stray had had her kittens under there. my daughter and I had had to cawl through raw sewage on our hands and knees, almost up to our elbows. yes it was a health hazzard, and yes it stunk, and yes i nearly puked, and yes we promptly went to the heath unit for the appropriate shots, but those poor little kittens were dying because the momma could not get to them. we rescued all of them, cleaned them up and raised them, but could not adopt them out as they all had feline lukemia, as well as the mom. they were loved and cherished until they became too sick to live, and were all eventually and reluctantly euthenized. it was a very sad day as one by one they succombed to thier illness. but, they were loved for the time that they were on this earth. and that was my dirtiest, and saddest, and happiest job. I would gladly do it all over again.
