There's a lot of bickering about housing prices and lifestyle. I live in a high-cost-of-living suburb of NYC. It's always been my home, but when my daughter graduates high school in 5 years, I may need to cash in my Cape, and move to a reasonably priced, yet culturally stimulating area.

Where's the best place in the US to live?

Houston, Tx would definitely fit the bill. It is culturally stimulating and diverse. Housing is very affordable here.
