Oh My Gosh! I watched Moving Up in St. Louis, MO on 3-15. They had a woman, Erin, as one of the homeowners. The things that woman said were so mean and offensive. Her husband even called the prior owner "simple minded". It's okay to have strong opinions, but to be flat out insulting is another thing - I'm so glad we do not have such mean person in my family to deal with. We feel sorry for anyone that has to come in contact with her or God Forbid have a different taste of decorating than her!

Elizabeth- before you judge me (or my husband) you should know the dynamics of the show. Abe and I are not mean spirited people, in fact we found positives in every room of our old home and kept our comments very PG in our old house. That is until the crew is with you all day and you've been filming for 8+ hours. That's when you get a little antsy and want the cameras, etc out of your house so you can enjoy the space you've spent 3+ months remodeling. We were instructed by Doug and the director to be "over the top" and not like anything. If we couldn't find anything in the room we didn't like, Doug or the director would point something out and ask us to talk negatively about it. (Example: the deck in our old house- we loved it, but what made the cut? The "cheap" furniture- they made me say that.) Please do no judge people you do not know. Reality TV is not real. Trust me.

Hi Elizabeth

I didn't take any of the things that the couple from Dallas said as offensive at all - you have to keep in mind that the producers cut and edit all of the wonderful things they could have said to entertain someone such as yourself. My husband and I couldn't stop laughing at all of their comments in fact! I think you were one of the more entertaining shows of the episode thus far (I have to admit I do have a bit of an obsession with painting my walls red so I totally love your style).

Erin, don't let the comments of these stay at home moms get to you - you have fab decorating skills and I wouldn't have changed a thing in your house if I bought it!

ohhh boooo-hooooo! I presume that Erin (and all people who go on these kinds of shows) CHOSE to do so. Thus, shouldn't they EXPECT to be "judged." If you were so sensitive as to seek out, read, and respond to these message boards, then, perhaps, it was not a great idea to agree to be on the show. I feel absolutely NO pity for you or your reality show cohorts. Get over yourselves!

And Britnee, though I'm an engaged graduate student with no children, what's your beef with "stay at home moms"? They're not entitled to opinions? They don't know what they're talking about because they have the strength, stamina, patience, and wisdom to raise their children 24-7, 365?! What a low blow.

Why would anyone go on a show that wants you to say something negative, asks you to do so, and obviously wants you to appear nasty and demeaning? I don't understand why they think that is all I want to see. I don't! These production decisions demean the show, the participants, etc. I am wondering if someone has ever not played dirty with Doug and was just positive throughout.

Secondly, I also don't understand why someone would want to go on tv during a move! Moving is very stressful and they agree to and want to get on tv during the experience! Why?

Finally, I find it amusing and confusing as to why anyone would care if someone paints the wall of their old house. It is not their house!

I completely agree with you Elizabether. I think there are ways to express your opinion, even if you don't like something, without being so mean spirited .

Erin, I'm still wondering how someone "made you say" something? I understand that the show wants drama and wants over the top comments. It's clear that the participants are goaded to give comments that will ignite reactions. I've seen episodes where people managed to be completely positive in what they had to say.

When you pronounce a room "gross" several times with a look on your face that you ate something toxic and call every single room a mistake, that is you. I noticed that you were unable to take the same critism give to your choice (hence all the cursing). Some really inexplicable comments (as others have pointed out) were your negative comments about removing the pink tile that was original to the house and very retro looking while doing the SAME THING with the yellow tile in your new bathroom.

This episode was totally funny. The granite that was put into Erin & Abe's old house looks exactly like the granite they put into their new house. Furthermore, the style of the two "new" kitchens is also nearly the same! Yet, in their old house they believe it was horrible?

Also, come on the red in the dining room is so close to the red they repainted...

It is totally amusing why others care about what happens in their old house! This is what makes the show.

PS - Your kitchen and bathroom look exactly the same Abe and Erin.

OMG! The granite I was thinking the same thing. It looked the same. The red wasn't that different either.

I am sure there was some editing done to make Erin and Abe look mean to a POINT. I watch Moving Up every Sunday morning. Oh, I am a stay at home Mom too by the way. Wink Anyway, some other episodes I have seen of course had negative comments from other couples because that is sort of what the show is about. There is no way that everyone who goes back to see their old house would love everything the new owners did.

That being said I don't care how much editing TLC did to make Erin and Abe look bad they could have stepped up and said, "no way that is not who I am". I personally think they were WAY over the top . The other episodes showed previous owners saying negative things but it was a little more tactful in most instances. I actually had to turn the TV off during this episode because I couldn't take the CEO anymore. Erin and Abe if you were instructed to act over the top and ignorant you should get a Grammy for that performance. Woooh! This is the worst episode I've seen EVER. Erin and Abe beat out the mother with her back woods daughters in the 70's house. I thought that would be hard to do. If you don't want to be judged don't go on REALITY TV!
