hey! this is emma, i'm new here.....i love horses so i decided to start w/ this. I do not own a horse but i lease a 10 year old ottb mare, whos chesnut. she wonderful...i'll probably post so pictures in the picture place later

hi there i'm new to the horse world. i've got my first horse and i absolutely adore him! unfortunately the previous owner didn't take care of him at all and he has a torn ligament. i would love to get some advice or just talk about horses!!!

Well those things take ALOT of time to heal if they heal at all it just takes time and alot of patience.

he's doing really good so far. i live in the wrong state for him. whenever it gets cold he limps really bad. i feel so bad for him. he's developed juvinile arthritis in both back haucks (sorry can't spell). he's only 4. i'm also dealing w/ the fact that he has never been properly fed. its just a mess. but i love him so its all worth it. thanks carissar89 for replying to me!! i've had horrible luck and not many people that know horses.

mrsmustang i have a new name now instead of carissar89. But i have a few suggestions
1) Put him on joint supplement. Its never to early try msm.
2) During cold days (below 50degrees) Put a winter blanket on your horse it might help.
3) Beet pulp is good for making horses put on weight naturally and there are not alot of ingrediants its just dried beets.
4) Get him vet checked if you havnt already and make often checkups until he gets a little more stable.

thank you so much for the tips!! he's doing amazing!! he's putting on weight and he looks really good. it sounds weird but he seems to be growing!! he's already 16.2 hands but he just feels taller all of a sudden. what exactly is msm? i've never heard of it. i've used bute before. it seems to do very well. he's been put on free feed and it seems to be helping him keep on weight. he's an appendix quarterhorse. so we think. i don't have papers or anything. he looks like a throughobred. so he has a high metabolism. well this is getting kind of long!! better let you go!! thanks again its_carrissa!
