I just got a new horse. I'm so excited. her name is Apollymi. She is a 16.2 Thoroughbred mare. She is dark bay. She is an ex-race horse. She is the best horse ever. She puts up with anything you throw at her. Up until the other day she hadn't been ridden since her last race. And for it being some time in between the two she didn't act up what so ever. she didn't quiet understand the whole someone over a hundred lbs on her back but we threw a western saddle on her lunged her a bit and hopped on and you could tell she was nervous but she just took it in stride.
Yeah I'm probably gonna be leasing a horse if my dad quits being cheap (my mom's gonna try to talk him into it). His name is toby and every time I ride him, my trainer goes: "oh u look so cute together!!" and he's so adorable.
That's so nice about Toby! There is a horse like that at the barn I take lessons at named Cha Cha. She's so adorable and huge, she is only 5 but my instructor says she is the laziest 5 year old she has ever met!
I used to break horses for riding when I lived in the country. Now I live in the middle of Columbus, Ohio... and there's nowhere to keep a horse around here. Hopefully I can find a reasonably priced farm to rent. I sure miss living out in the middle of nowhere.
I need a good Quarter Horse or Quarter Pony (a larger one) for myself, a pony for my wife, and a pony for my son...
At one point, I almost bought a horse I'd label as bomb proof. Quarter/Arab cross. Beautiful beast. Steady as anything. We could take him trail riding with a lead rope and a halter... no bit, no saddle. He was only 8 years old.
I may be getting a new horse soon. She's selling for a lot less than she's worth, very beautiful and well bred. Her problem? She's 5 years old, and she doesn't even lead. If I do get her, I'm going to try to train her with the ground work, and then bring her the woman that trained my paint so she can be broken in. This is her: http://www.dreamhorse.com/photos/may/1222616.jpg
