Well if you ever get a horse first I would start off with how how much experience you have and the horse that is trained to match that then I would worry about what breed but if your just looking for a breed quarter horses are great all around horses for any kind of riding that you do. also I would not suggest a foal for a first time owner unless you have someone who can work with you to train the horse. Adults are better for a first horse. Just talk to the horse owner and see if you can ride the horse a couple of times before you take it home and have your vet check the horse out if you don't have a vet get one, also take someone along who has alot of experience with horses.

Don't start with a foal, that's asking for trouble. Wink

Also, you can't just choose a breed either.

You'll need to work with someone experienced, preferably a trainer, that will help you find a horse that's suitable for your level. If it's your first horse something quiet and very well-trained that can show you the ropes of horse ownership. Generally an older horse will be best because they've been around longest and generally have solid training in their backgrounds.

Exactly what she said. Breed doesn't matter unless your doing some specific discipline that has horses more in tune for it then others.

Get a well trained horse to begin with that has a personality that is suitable to yours.

I agree with Angeeleeta. I don't think it matters unless you really wnat a hyper or, laid back horse. But then again youo can probably find a hyped up or laid back horse in any breeds. Some just have dfferent traits though. I would get a horse that seems similair to your personality. Also To angeeleeta I just want to say that my cousin borrowed my computer, laptop, and said some really mean things on my account. I want to apologize for what she said. It was very rude of her, she's quite young and doesn't have much expeirence with horses. I'm so sorry. I hope she ddn't hurt your feelings or change the way you think about me. Again I'm so sorry that she started this problem and I completely agree with you beer is left to adults! Sorry again.
