My neice is 9 and she really likes horses, so I got her riding lessons for Christmas. I had told her that if she wanted a horse when she was 16 and had the money to buy it and feed it for a year I would find and a place to keep it. I never thought of the horse being mine but I knew I would be taking care of it alot of the time, and I never wanted a horse when I was young. Then last weekend I was at my friend's, she has 4 horses, and I rode one around the arena for a while. It's not the first time I've been on a horse but this time something changed and I decided I want a horse. Now it's all I can think of. I think there is a special energy that horses have and once you feel it you know how special they are. It's kind of like being let in on some huge secret that you know makes the world a better place. Am I really goofy or does anyone else feel this way?

Yah, thats what it feels like. I have had the oppertunity to be popular at school, or show dogs but i'v always sticked with horses. I first started riding when i was 3, and i havent been able to stop. It's so amazing but i think it's because when u ride a horse just the experience of the riding and the jumping is soooooooooooooo much fun. But remeber you should only get a horse if you have had at least 5 years of experince, have enough money to support one, because your looking at $3,000-$4000 a month just to own a horse and you still need a horse trailer, a car that can pull the horse trailer, nice clothes for riding and you should know beyond the basics of horses, like how to treat colic, and what to do if your horse loses a shoe during a ride, or how to handle a thoroughbred off the track, and not to mention the time and comiment, because u need to be at the barn everyday, and your horse should be ridden 2-3 time a day, if you really believe that you have every single thing above then i would recommend a pony if your short, and if your tall then a quaterhorse, and always ride your horse english
