i'm looking at a wintec saddle and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

I've heard people say good stuff about them, but I steer clear, every experience I've had on a Wintec strengthened my belief that they're not reliable. I've only ridden western Wintecs, but I've had trees and cantle's come loose, stirrups fall apart, one where the whole pommel and horn pull right off.

I've never owned a Wintec, but I've ridden with them a few times and liked the comfort, fit, and low maintenance. Some riders love them, and they tell me Wintecs in the past were not good quality, but they've improved a lot recently, especially when it comes to the interchangeable gullet system to fit your horse more comfortably. Does the company offer a guarantee, or does your local dealer offer buying one on a trial basis? It might be worthwhile to check it out.

I not a big fan of them either. They aren't exactly long-lasting!

I'd stay away.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced saddle than go for a used well known brand. I don't know what discipline you ride, but you can find really nice english and western saddles that are lightly used [or even heavily used but in good condition] for reduced prices.

I believe I have ridden in a dressage and all-purpose(?) Wintec saddle. They both are comfortable. The only complaint I have is on the dressage one. The stirrup leathers are difficult to adjust and the rubber(?) is breaking. But it does get a lot of hard use, being a lesson saddle.

I've ridden Wintecs in the past (Western) that I really liked, and they were lesson saddles, so they must've held up pretty well. The one I rode with I last used about a year ago and it's still in pretty much the same condition as it was when I used it. I've never tried their brand of English saddles.

You get what you pay for.

It really depends on the kind of use you are looking to use them for. Because they are synthetic, they will wear faster, but they are very affordable.
