On Friday, my favorite horse died. She was 32 years old! When I was little she would let me walk right under her and she wouldn't even flinch! And when she had her halter and lead on you could leave her for about ten minutes and when you came back she was still in the same spot! But on Thursday she got loose and she got lost, and when they found her she was stuck on her side and could not get up. Then she loose again and this time they had to call the vet to help her get up. Then they found her again on her side and they called the vet and had to put her down. I think that when a animal dies, it's spirit lives on in the peoples its touched. Just like she touched me.
That is so true my horse goody lives on in my heart I had him for a long time.. he was 19 when we had to put him down because of colic. I cried for two days. I loved that horse.
I'm so sorry to hear your best horse friend died. I lost my beautiful 27-year-old stallion to cancer last memorial day, so I can relate to how much you miss your horse. You're so right that our animals' spirits live on in how we remember them and in how they influence us to be the best caretakers we can for all the animals we love in the future. What was your horse's name? So I can place a rock with her name written on it along our local trail, a regular thing we horse people in my area do to honor loved horse friends who are no longer with us.
What a cute name! I almost named my rabbit Aurora, but then we found out it was a guy and opted for THUMPER!!! THump, Thump, THump. He actually thumps when he is frightened.
