i have a friend who is afraid of horses..... i dont get it. they are the best animals in the world (along with fish, haha for anyone who goes to both forums)
Some people just are affraid of animals. My cousin was terrified, and then his mom got him Riding lessons, and he's in love! He rides a nice Halflinger mare named Perry every week now.
I am in love with horses. I don't have a bf, and I don't care because my horse is my bf. I would rather be in love with a horse, then a high school boy. Ya, boys can talk to you and you can actually understand what they are trying to say, but horses are just so much better. I love my horse. I am around horses every weekend (the place that is keeping my horse is about 30 min away...so I can't go there after school or during the week , but during the summer I will be working with horses every other day. I am so excited. This might sound weird, but whenever I am sad, or dissapointed, or scared, I think about horses, and riding, and it calms me down. I don't just love horses, i love all animals

LOL
I remember feeling that way once too.
However, in my twenties I met a really great guy, and he loves animals too. It's a match made in heaven.
Maybe you'll meet a guy that will share your love of animals too! You could even have a horse ranch and much more!
I love horses especially since i got my own. I am there almost everyday and in the summer I am doing a summer camp for girl scouts for three weeks and teaching them how to take care of the horses and ride and stuff. I get paid with extra lessons and trail rides and stuff.

LOL! I disagree that most high school boys can talk in a way that you can understand them, especially say anything of interest to a young horse woman. Seriously, you are right to concentrate on horses right now and leave bfs until later. From my experience(I had your exact same attitude about 30 years ago) it takes a while for those boys to grow into the kind of men you'd want to have a relationship with, but eventually they do. And by that time, you'll know when a person is right for you, because of your experience creating fulfilling partnerships with horses.
well, I think of it this way. I have my whole life to live, and boys will be around forever. My horse might only live 20 or so more years. If I got attached to a boy that I would date for maybe a year, and I got away from my horse, that wouldn't even be fair to the horse. I also think of this: who's to say that I am not going to get into a terrible accident when i'm older where I can't ride anymore. If I put boys before horses, and thought that horses would come later, and then that happend, I wouldn't ever get my time with my horses...I hope you get what I'm trying to say
Absolutely! A bad accident with a horse means a long, painful recovery time. A certain type of bad accident with a guy means a long, painful recovery time, plus a lifelong committment to a new person that involves giving up horses, combined with maybe not the most support from your family or the guy.
A good relationship with a horse means you know how to care for him or her, you know how to establish priorities, to expect some things from them, to do the best you can for them while never giving up your own self. A good relationship with another person means, um, pretty much the same things! You are very wise to concentrate on horses right now and put off bf relationships. When the right time comes, the person who falls in love with you (guaranteed, a horse guy)will be very lucky!
well, I always put animals before my self, and their needs come first. Like for instance, I was supposed to go down to our lake property for the weekend, but we have a dog who can't go in the car because she gets sick, and ducks/chickens/and turkeys who need food and water, and cats that also need to be cared for, and our pet watcher person bailed on us yesturday, so now i get to stay home and watch them instead of going to the lake...however, They come first, so it's a sacrifice I am willing to make
(the lady who boards my horse is alright with me not comming down this weekend... at least she didn't bail on me)
I don't have a big horse life, and my other family members take care of the other animals...soooo....I have time. I don't put myself way out there though. I think for the right person to find me, they have to ask me, and not be shy.
