I had a DS 5yrs ago and lost 196 pounds and in the last year I have gained 65pounds. I was never a volume eater or a sweets eater I have a genitic disorder that prevents my body from knowing what to do with food. I does not turn it into fuel it stores it as fat. I have not changed my eating habits at all. I did develop Khrones and am wondering if this is the problem, I just dont know. I am so worried. I dont want to be 316 pounds again. I have gone back to the beginning and I am on a all liquid diet for the next 2wks and than will start with soft food and than introduce more food a little at a time, I am just hopeing some one else out there is having the same trouble.
I see through your post that you are really frustrated, and I don't blame you. Have you been to your doctor? It seems to me that this is an issue that he/she should know about and see what can be done. Hang in there!
I feel for you. I had the RNY in 1/03, and over the past 1 1/2 yrs have regained 60. I'm now having to refocus and the weight's finally coming off again. (And maybe it's due to recent complications with the bypass, too, which my surgeon and I are having to contend with.)
Guildedlilly...may I ask what your complications are? I think I have stretched out my pouch and am wondering what is done with that situation. Does it mean another surgery?
I had the surgery that at the time was called a BPD bilio-pancreatic diversion in 1989. I lost 150 lbs in one year. It was great and I even hada a baby in 1990. She was 2 weeks late and weighed 5lbs 15 oz. and is doing great. But starting back in 1997 I started gain again. I have now put back on 70lbs. I feel terrible. I'm unable to keep up with my daughter who is 17 now. I'm frustrated because I don't eat alot don't creave sweets and I try to eat right. Why am I putting on the weight? Any body have any thoughts.
How are you all doing with your exercise? From what I've read that can make a difference, so if you aren't really keeping up with your daily walks, maybe that will help!
I had my surgery almost 3 years ago and I had come to a stand still.I had gained about 10 pounds back because I stopped exercising for a while.I have started to exercise again and have started to see a difference. Physically and mentally. When I had my surgery I weighed 328 and now I weigh 180.I exercise 5 hours a week(including three, one hour long PUMP classes and 2 hours cardio).I try to stay away from white flour and white sugar. And I try to eat organic foods. Not that I am some kind of health fanatic but, it makes me more disciplined and changes the way I think about food and my choices.I have a real problem with eating too much when I am on my period.During that time, chocolate can save lives(namely my husband's and my child's and whoever is unfortunate enough to be driving at the same time I am) Anyhoo, this is the first time I have posted here.Thank you for letting me share.I have been very concerned about gaining weight back.It helps to have people to talk to who have been through it too.
