I am going for my bypass on March 31/08, I'm am so excited but scared in the same sense. I'm so looking forward to lose all this weight but i dont know what to expect!! I have never been skinny, so i don't know what my body will look like.. My doctor told me after i loose all my weight he will preform a tummy tuck, but what about the legs and arms..... I am 100 lbs over weight, can anyone out there let me know what to expect?
Hi I just had gastric bypass on 1/08/08, I have already lost 39 lbs and I feel great. I worry about my arms especially, I have been told 15 to 18 months post op I can have plastic surgery but nothing was said about the arms, only tummy, and thighs.
I can tell you from my experience I am so glad I decided to do this for myself, I am already off my high cholesterol and diabetic pills.
soexcited, unfortunately, everyone's situation is different, so you won't get a definite answer, but you can get some general ones. I weighed 475 pounds when I first started this journey. I lost over 200 pounds. My arms, belly, thighs and breasts all needed to be fixed.
Lots of things factor in to how your skin will react to the weight loss. As you drop the weight, you will begin to get a feel for what things you can live with and what things you want to have fixed. Regardless of how your skin reacts, you will be feeling SO much healthier as you lose the weight!
If you want more info on my journey, feel free to drop me an email at kimvalera@hotmail.com.

What about pain? Was it bad after surgery? I'm not to worried, I do have a high pain tolerance, but very curious on what to expect!
Hi soexcited, I had Laproscopic GBP on the 10th of this month & the surgery was the easy part. My pain was well managed in hospital with a PCA pump where you give yourself small doses of pain killers every few minutes. I spent 4 days in ICU & went home. I did have problems after i went home w/ severe pain from rolling gas from where they pump you full of air during the surgery but once that past about 4 days later i was okay & now i'm just kinda weak, still getting my bearings & learning what i can & can't tolerate w/ my new anatomy. I've already lost 20.6 pounds & i don't regret the surgery, just be ready because.. it is not a walk in the park. I'm not trying to scare ya here i just think that everyone should be prepared for the feelings afterwards. I feel hungry sometimes & it is HARD not to wanna eat but if you keep hydrated then you can keep those feelings at bay. I'm looking forward to the next 3 weeks when i can actually eat, nervous but excited. Good Luck!!
