In the video of Mike leading the Discovery All-Stars in 'boom de addah', he said you had been on Baffin Island in pursuit of the unsung shark, the Greenland shark.

So I'm guessin' we'll see that footage in Shark Week.

My question is this - will that footage be shown as a segment of DJ or will it get its own show?

Thanks!

Taz-

I just may turn out to be both! Just about every Discovery program will be doing its own version of shark week this year, and the Greenland shark segment we shot was designed to be one of ours for the show. Yet, it may be so good, it may be the only segment of the hour. I have to look at the rough cut when I get back to the office next week, but I'm hoping it will be so.

Its really interesting, and it was hell. I have no idea how these scientists do it. It was 18 below 0 our first day of shooting!

And our very own Dan Eggiman fell through a crack in the ice before we even did any work! Luckily we were rolling and caught a bit of his trauma. And oh yeah, luckily he is ok.

For the record, I'm hoping for the full hour. I'd love to see as much footage as possible of the icy wilderness of Nunavut, and to watch the DJ crew grappling with the conditions.

Also, I salute all of you for spending January through April in the most ridiculously cold weather imaginable. Alaska, Canada, Minnesota, NYC 27 stories up - all in the frigid heart of winter.

Don't know how you do it, but I'm sure glad you do.

Thanks again,

Emily

Hey Dave, Did you work with any Marine Biologists from URI (my alma mater)?
I know there are a couple of Arctic Shark studies going on "back home" and wondered if you guys met while on location.

Holy crap!! I had no idea it was Dan! Thanks for sharing Dave, they didn't want to "ruin the surprise", but I appreciate it! Wink
