I was at Epcot (FL) lastweek, when I saw the strangest thing. It looked like a female red-belly woodpecker, with the following exceptions: ORANGE head, top part of her beak was curved and approx. 3" long, where the lower part of the beak was normal in size. To eat she had to lower her head to the ground to be able to pick anything up. She had a brood of chicks that she was feeding. It didn't dawn on me until now that the nest was attached to the tree, not in a drilled hole. The nest was constructed of Spanish moss and ball moss/ air plants. Please see my photo album if you can. Any ideas would be great.

Keep birding! Cool
