Does the cash cab give out real money when the winners leave the cab? It looks fake, and I can't imaging anyone leaving a cab in NYC holding a wad of cash.

The money is real but they do not get to keep it. What you see is strictly for the camera. The winners get a check in the mail.

if what you say is true mitch then it would be simply asinine for them to be holding real money if they just need to give it back fake money would be the logical answer. So I highly doubt what you say is true. No one would be that stupid in NY to flash 1600 REAL $ around

I've been to Ben's personal website, I've been to his myspace page. I have even watched the videos of Ben answering questions at the Cash Cab fansite. I read everything at those websites that's where I get this info from. I am only to glad to share it when I can.
As for there being 1600 REAL dollars? How do you know how much it is? and when there's at least 2 cameramen within spitting distance of the money, do you really think theres any danger of flashing real money on the street?

If you look st the credits, bottom LH corner you'll see that they employ the services of a security firm.

You know mitch, they call the show "Cash Cab", not "You'll get a check later in the mail Cab". But yet if it is real money, where does he store it? Does he carry a safe in the cab? Or is it fake money??????

The money is indeed fake. Back when I did the original searching all the articles I read never specificly stated that the cash was fake.
I have since learned otherwise. I figured that, with a security team in the trailing SUV and 2 guys with cameras around the cab when it stops, the money was probably real.
and yes they DO get a check in the mail.
