I LOVE Nugget and Beaker!!!! What adorable pups! This was a very good episode. As much as I like Wilson-kudos to Axel! I loved when he kept dozing off lol. I hope Sophie finds her happiness. I also like how Flower was mentioned a few times. I'm also glad Rocket Dog took charge and went after baby Beaker

We weren't worried Mod, we knew you would open the burrow for us in time WOO HOO, pupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspupspups pupspupspups!!! Axel, all grown up!! Oh no, WAKE UP AXEL Oh it's okay, it's Wilson, he just loves those Whiskers girls! I am still laughing at all the meerkat heads popping up out of the grass Sweet, sweet Sophie, finally back in the burrow, but ready to risk it all for pups of her own. Mitch, my gosh what a wonderful DM he has become! Is that a scar on his cheek?? Where did he get that - though it does give him a bit of a rakish look, the whole "bad boy" thing works well for him!! He's a chip off the ol' block for sure - Good job Zaphod!!! Rocket Dog, the good momma, bringing the mob home in time to save her pups! She has worked hard to become a DM, now genetics show she is indeed the daughter of the Queen The desert in bloom, the Whiskers doing well - and Sophie and Wilson in love - all is well in the burrow tonight

Poor Sophie...she just can't stop loving her Wilson.
Mitch looked as though he had fought hard when he returned, but he won the fight. Hopefully, he will heal soon. I'm a bit worried, but he's tough, so it's not a strong worry.
Axel has proven himself to be a valued babysitter and member of the family. He was willing to chase off the rovers, and would most likely have risked his life for the little ones, if necessary. He sure has grown a lot since we first met him.
I'm really thankful that RD and Sophie rescued Beaker and Nugget. The pups were fortunate that their mother and the others returned when they did. Otherwise, the pups might not have survived. Sophie might not have been able to save both of them, or herself, if she was the only one there.

Oooh, Nugget and Beaker, such beautiful pups; and safe thanks to Sophie and the family. Rocket Dog, following the example set by her mother. You go girl.
That little tart Sophie, she has too many hormones for her own good. And Wilson, well he can't get enough of the Whiskers girls, or any other Kalahari female for that matter.
And Axel, still emulating his adopted big brother. Some day he'll be a worthy dominant just like Mitch.
Missing Zaphod and Maybelline. Hope we get to see more of them.

What an absolutely cute episode! Nugget and Beaker are so adorable. Brave little Axel keeping watch.
I held my breath a bit since I figured this might be a tragic episode, but I am glad that it turned out to be a happy ending!

Looks like RD let Sophie back in the family just in time to babysit her new pups and both RD/Sophie saved the pups from the snake. The once abandoned pup Axel taken in by the family is now a year old - has turned into a valued member, trying help Sophie babysit and not fall asleep

Great episode. Nice cinematography. Rocket Dog, and the pups are safe for now. The names of the pups were not changed. It was very touching to see the two females, RD, and Sophie carrying the pups unharmed out of the burrow. The snake was like a warning for the future. "Wilson", HR in this case I guess, brought his brother, and roving mate, and MM used his real name, Philippe. Axel was so cute protecting his family. Please stop calling him "adopted". He is a Whiskers.

I loved this one! They keep getting better. I love the use of the real KMP names for Nugget, Beaker, and Phillippe! Very sweet to see sleeping Axel. Pronker will love the shot of his little back feet.
Suspenseful but happy. So glad that snake did not get the pups. It doesn't matter if you know the ending, this one still had me on the edge of my seat when we were waiting to see who emerged from the burrow!
Stockard, well done! She really did a good job narrating this week. Seems as she gets to know the characters and what they do, she puts just the right spin on it. It was easier to hear her as well this week. Maybe they remixed the sound?
Keep it up, AP! I love seeing the pups, hope we see more Aztecs next week.

Awwww, they're finally giving Rocket Dog the respect she deserves! She truly is her mother's daughter. OHMYGOSH, NUGGET AND BEAKER! They are both absolutely gorgeous. I'm so glad that their wonderful mother saved them! And wow, they used real names this time! Yay, I love Axel! He is just the most amazing little meerkat! Hmm, a little sleepy there, little guy? Lol. Woah, he's so small next to Phillipe... and yet he chased him off? WOW! Hurray for the Chuckle Brothers! Lol, now I finally know how to pronounce Phillipe. =P What great rovers they are. And Stockard was just phenominal! Way to go, AP!

I agree, zettak. That is why I did not put adopted in my post. To me, Axel is a Whiskers, and I'm very proud of him for what he did this week. What I meant by my other post is he's not just another Whiskers who stays in the shadows; rather, he is a Whiskers who has made a name for himself. His bravery is to be commended. Axel just passed into adulthood, and this was, as far as I know, his first time as a babysitter. Having to babysit Sophie as well must have been quite the challenge, but he passed the test I don't like wild snakes anyhow, but now that one has taken Flower, and another has threatened Beaker, Nugget, Sophie, and Rocket Dog, I despise them. May the Whiskers and all of the other meerkats be safe from the deadly pests.

I'm sorry to see Sophie being called bad names when she is being a female meerkat. We are all ruled by our hormones a lot more than we'd like to acknowledge. Loved the bottoms of Axel's feet. I'd like to know who beat Mitch up so badly in the past. I hope the other guys look worse. And how terrifying to know that a snake can live (and dine) in a sociable weavers nest for months. A good reason not to stick one's hand in a nest when one is visiting the Kalahari.

Axel Pups "Mitch" "Wilson" Phillipe Beaker Nugget "Sophie" OMG what a great episode!! First watching Axel struggle so trying to stay awake and then the Meerkat Kalahari Pup Ups (Wilson and Phillippe in the grass) then Axel napping flat on his back paws up OMG I was laughing!!! We all know I've become a huge Axel fan and look to the day when he becomes the full DM of our beloved Whiskers ~~ last night simply showed his potential. A brave little one and watching his half growed self pronking after Wilson ( a kat double his size) had me in stitches! Kudos to RD and the crew arriving in the nick of time~ Beaker and Nugget.. showing their genes as well - emerging from the burrow on their own a week early!! WHAT CUTIES!! Yep last night was goooooooooooood well except for the missing "moment" - no Tommercial only a repeat of the wonders of Busta! I admit part of me loves they are showing the DM as "Mitch" but at the same time it saddens me knowing it's not him ~ and only makes me wonder where and how my little meerman is

Why is Sophie always prostituting herself and risking her position within the Whiskers just to pleasure Wilson? That kat needs to learn to keep her knees together.

Dude, Axel is a total loser. What kind of baby sitter goes to sleep on the job?!? And then, while trying to prevent his sister from getting some, he allowed a huge snake to enter the burrow! I hope he gets eaten by a hawk. quote: Originally posted by ILoveMitch: Axel Pups "Mitch" "Wilson" Phillipe Beaker Nugget "Sophie" OMG what a great episode!! Yes. the best episode so far. Little Axel was so cute dozing off and them Wilson coming in to join Sophie put some excitement in the day. Also, both pups are real cute and I am glad their KMP names were used. Then the Whiskers clan comes back just as Axel's chasing the rovers again and boy, did Mitch really get beaten up. And for all his falling asleep on the job, didn't Axel redeem himself well when he spotted the snake at the entrance to the burrow? At the last moment, before the last pup was rescued that was simply a heart-stopping moment. What a way to present a TV show. Ms. Channing did a terrific job this time too. She put the right emphasis on her narration at the right time. I think this season might be the best one yet.

Ok, Meerkats can't 'keep their knees together'. Breeding is instinct, you dunce. quote: Originally posted by MrK4TH8R: Dude, Axel is a total loser. Oh no you did NOT just insult my Axel! You idiot, why the duck would you wish death upon a meerkat? Axel couldn't have stopped the snake from getting into the burrow. And c'mon, if you were sitting alone for hours with nothing happening around you, wouldn't YOU have fallen asleep? I hope YOU get eaten by a hawk. quote: Originally posted by MrK4TH8R: They're just meerkats. You're emotionally incontinent, dude. Get a grip, get some perspective...

First congrats to RD for her pups, & I'm sooo glad she didn't fallow the same fate as her mother. Great job to Axel for chasing off Wilson. ^^ I wonder how Sophie got back into the group but lets hope that doesn't happen again. ::Kats::

Now THIS is an episode! it had everything but car chases! I'm so happy for sophie to be safe and sound at home again. She should be careful though Roving Wilson tempting her, even though she knows what happened last time. She just can't help it. He must be a handsome Kat indeed ^_^ Brave little axel is growing up quick. but i'll always think of him as the little pup that flower spared. Oh dear...even when he falls asleep during guard duty -_- What was that in Mitches mouth? a blade of grass? Meerkats dun eat grass! Pups at last! aren't they precious! I was on the edge of my seat. Does that last line sound familiar? "In one daring act..." Only fate didn't strike twice. Little beaker is digging already ^_^ that scene in the burrow was so cute

Yo
A visually gorgeous episode with some of the best filmed sequences of the series:
A rover Wilson (Homestar Runner for sure) happily prancing through a field of devil's thorn flowers;
Axel, everyone knows that to keep watch you have to stay awake, lol, such a sweet sight Axel with front paws tucked in and back paws up in the air, black pads taking in the suns rays to keep him all comfy;
Wilson and side kick Phillipe (These are the original Chuckle Brothers from the Young Ones group)popping their heads up out of the long grass;
Axel pronking at the intruders gave me a giggle because as hard as he was trying to look tough and big he looked more like a cartoon character on fast forward;
Sophie looking up to find Wilson looking down at her from the burrow rim;
Wislon (HR) was a lovely large male kat and getting to see him and his brother Phillipe's engaging rover techniques was like icing on the cake.
RD rescuing little Beaker was so heart wrenching and heart warming.
Sigh, this was a great one!

It was great to see the two Young Ones brothers. They are both large, attractive males. They tried so hard to join the Whiskers, and the Aztecs, but I guess the circumstances didn't favor them.
Axel (although a Young Ones) is a Whiskers in every sense of the word. He joined the group as a pup.

Hey Roscket Dog, I'm not very impressed by your retort. You clearly have way too much time on your hands if you care so much about a bunch of meerkats on the other side of the planet. maybe you ought to spend some of that spare time consulting a dictionary, so the next time you call me an imbecile you can spell it correctly.

It's odd that you would mention having "way too much time on your hands"....that's just what I was thinking about YOU! Insulting someone else's opinion usually means one has no intelligent discourse of their own to offer. Your posts simply prove that theory.

I have to agree that this was one of the best episodes I have seen. The information on snakes and the weaver birds was a little tidbit that makes it obvious we can learn something new every day. Poor birdies.
That filming of the pups in the burrow was worth another award for the film crew in my opinion. And seeing the heads of the Chuckle Brothers popping up and down as they snuck toward the burrow was priceless. Here comes little Axel to the rescue, pronking away to protect the burrow and pups. Poor Sophie has got to learn there is a time and a place eh?
Did anyone notice that the meerkat playing Mitch was missing a claw? It could be a trick of the film but it sure looked missing to me.
Our dear RD willing to put it all on the line to go rescue her pup. Yep this show had it all this week. I know there are going to be sad episodes but happy ones are nice to hold on too when the sad times come around.
Loving the new season

By far I must admit that this was my favorite episode so far this season.
From the git go with little Axel watching baby ostrich, to the ground squirrel watching the meerkats, to the birds watching everyone, to the scenes in the burrow of the pups and to the screen fading to black before the big save. LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT !!!!!
I must say that poor Sophie just cant resist that kalahari hottie. It was too cute watching them play peek-a-boo over the burrow. Maybe she'll get lucky enough to find a rover that's ready to settle down like Houdini and Carlos did and have her own little family. She looked so torn between her family and Wilson(HR), and her heart will only get her into trouble.
As for Axel what fabulous footage of him katnapping at the burrow. Personally I can watch footage like that all day long and never tire of it. It was also cute when they were showing his chest pounding at the thought of getting to prove that he can handle these rovers. Rocket Dog must be so proud of how Axel has grown since the day that she saved his life.
The footage of the pups in the burrow is priceless and what-ever tricks the film crew used to get these shots, they are to be commended.
My only concern is that we have gone thru half the season without any deaths so we are overdue so to speak. While I would love to watch a season without any deaths at all I know that meerkats did die during the filming. Hopefully they choose not to show any deaths which would be fine in my book after the quantity of kats that died last season.
Just in case I will have a box of kleenex on hand for next week.

DUDE!! First off the only real loser I see here I'm afraid to say would be the one using the word DUDE for a woman old enough to be your mama!! Axel is young, he's barely a year old and it was his first venture as a babysitter. He did what he could under the circumstances and I think he showed great promise. As for the snake it was the mobbing that sent the snake deeper into the burrow.. not Axel's napping. Because I dare hope my mama raised me with a few manners I do hope your future holds more sympathetic employers, friends and family than you've show poor Axel... Otherwise you're in for one heck of rude awakening as you start to experience real life. My feelings are simple.. if you don't like whats posted here, feel free to move on to a forum that enjoys your negativity. Before that decision is made for you

I don't find fault with Axel. After all, he did his part to keep rovers away. Not to mention, he alerted the rest of the group to the snake in time for Beaker and Nugget to be rescued. It's true that he fell asleep, but this was his first time babysitting. He's still young, himself.
Sophie and Wilson sort of remind me of the Kalahari version of a romance novel. They're just too adorable.
I hope there are few deaths this season. Each meerkat is special, and each loss makes it harder to watch.
MrK4TH8R, please find something you DO like and talk about it with others. You'll find that you feel better and people will respect you more.

I enjoyed the line about Sophie wanting to be a mom. Sad that there can only be one but it's their nature. It was sort of like waitng for a bugle call in a western, you wanted the whiskers to return to help Axel and get the snake. As for the poster that's rude. Don't feed them, they will starve or find somewhere else to reside. Magic M
