Cinderella524 your poem made me cry. I was upset and irritated that Mozart died, but reading your tribute to her really touched me.
This has been a tragic year and so many lives lost. I know that nature has to take its course without humans interfering but I still want someone to protect our 'pets' on the Kalahari. The prior seasons were enjoyable watching the antics of the Whiskers; this year there has been too much devestation.
I know Mitch will be leaving the Whiskers to go out on his own and I hope he is not the next casualty of the Whiskers group.
Can we hope that Wilson will make it back to Rocketdog so she will have a mate?
Rest in peace Mozart. I hope you are up there with your family grooming your babies that you never really got to nurture in their short lives.

We can only hope that since the camera crew and researchers were around and saw the hopelessness of the situation for Mozart..... after the fire and losing the safety of her burrow.... that she was actually rescued and has long been living happily in a reserve somewhere. Anyone could have predicted the outcome that was presented on tonight's episode.
All her options were exhausted. She tried to get back with the Whiskers only to be chased away. Then she was alone which can only lead to death as guards are needed while the other/s are foraging. Her situation was hopeless. I think she was rescued. They didn't show Wilson checking out the mysterious body they showed in the sand. Flower was obviously killed. They made up a story about how that came about. They needed to write Mozart out of the show forever if someone decided to change her destiny. And since this is a research project... they would have a hard time explaining interference.
What do you think?

I started watching just before season 3 began. I think that the editors of the show need to rethink how their editing these episodes. I realize that the show depicts real life events for the meerkat's but this season has been far too depressing.

The only ones still left from season one that I know of are Zaphod and Daisy. The difference in Daisy's and Mozart's fates comes down to simply this: Mozart dreamed of being a queen like her mother. But the Kalahari is especially cruel to thwarted ambition. It's a "winner take all" world, and because Mozy never quite succeeded as an apha, she paid with her life for her dream. Daisy, on the other hand, is alive because she was willing to submit to the family. But tonight we're grieving about Mozart, and I think we do so for many reasons that have a lot to do with why she never became an alpha female. She was too gentle and kind, and we identified with that. She was resilient if only because she had to be, and we admired her for that. And we grieve for her because she tried so hard and cared so much but fate and luck weren't with her. So many of us can empathize with that most of all.

robranboo - I do not know how Hannibal lost his eye - when they first arrived in Season 2 - he had no eye -
As for Mozart - I knew this was coming and I stood in front of the tv in tears crying "I don't believe it - this can't be happening" No one deserves to die - and especially die alone - but of all the meerkats - the one that was there for everyone to die alone in the end - I am at least glad Wilson was there that day and the night before for her - This has been a tragic season - but I think this one hurts the most - was it because she was the underdog, because she fought so hard to find happiness and love - or just because she was that special -

Chitown...your post just made me realize something else. Not only do we know the timelines of these episodes is somewhat flawed...but now we realize that they aren't even chronological! It was described as "part of the Whiskers mob" that attacked the Commandos. Which is very strange! The reason it wasn't the entire mob will be explained in the final episode (or on the Spoiler Board). But that just shows that what happened on this episode, actually took place AFTER what happens on next week's episode. Geez, AP, is there ANYTHING about this series that we can assume you DIDN'T alter before showing?

Just a few quotes i found that i thought represented mozart, and all the meerkats that have touched our lives so much this season.
"An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language." ~ Martin Buber
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France
"I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contained, I stand and look at them long and long." ~ Walt Whitman
"Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms." ~ George Elliot
Men show their superiority inside; animals, outside. - Russian Proverb
Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once- william shakesphere
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
William Shakespeare: And, when he shall die, Take him and cut him out in little stars, And he will make the face of Heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun

She deserved way more than she got out of life. She was the bravest and strongest meerkat in the Kalahari, she also was the sweetest and had the biggest heart. Making her the true Queen of the Kalahari.
She deserves her own MOZART MEMORIAL.

Well of course I bawled like a baby when at the end of the show, when I saw Mozart's dead body. She is an inspiration to me because she never gave up even when it seemed like the chips were always down. I love her like crazycakes. I wonder if the researchers buried her as they did Flower?

Mozart , the sweetest meerkat . she was the most caring - she was nice to others even when they treated her mean, she was there for them. for mozart to die alone is so heartbreaking. After all the heartbreak she went throughout her little life, it looked like she finally had a boy meerkat that would be with her to raise a family that she so dearly deserved. that night, for Mozart and Wilson to be at separate burrows under the moonlight up late thinking about each other is really something. For Mozart to have been attacked by an animal and had to die alone without ever knowing that Wilson came back to her is so disturbing on so many levels. I have watched many movies and shows and read many books and- none of them has affected me this much - ever. this season has been so sad, but this episode has been the most sad so far. I am still crying and cannot stop.

Well theres really no one left from the first season. The wisker are in disaray, and all who watch are filled with sadness and trepidation for the future of the show.
Hers was a sad loss, doubly so as it comes on the heels of Flowers ,Carlos,Kinkachoos, and the disapperance of Whoopi.
She showed the most compassion, and was delt the worst tragedies. She indeed touched all our hearts and will be profoundly missed.

Also I was disapointed that the title didnt in some way reflect the sinificance of her passing. It seemed to reflect apon Mitch.
Does anyone know about her grave?
What about a memorial for her like for flowers here on the site.

I know I posted something earlier but I would like to add that Mozart was the PRINCESS of the Kalahari. My heart is still aching over her death. I am crying trying to type this. I am so glad the producers did not show her managled little body up close and in full light. I felt so sorry for Wilson standing there looking at her. At least he did go back for her. Now he is one of my favorites. I hope he can mate with rocketdog and become her partner. I have only been on here for two months and you people are the greatest. Thanks to all for loving our furry friends.

Please make a memorial for Mozart, like you did for Flower. I hope her body was treated like Flowers' also. I love the show, but I am profoundly saddened by this episode, and will never forget Mozart.

What is going on with Season 3? First Carlos, then Flower, and then Mozart! I couldn't even cry, I'm empty inside. I have been rooting for Mozart since day one - she has been such a little underdog or should I say underkat. I so wanted her luck to change! Please don't let anything happen to brave Mitch - I don't think I could stand it! Farewell, little Mozart - I know life will be better for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
