They're aliiiive! *spins around and falls over cheering!* Sophie and the pups are alright!! Oh what an intense episode, and innovative two with the two stories on one timeline.

I'm so sad for poor Simon though Frown Atleast he didn't die in vain. It was his actions that saved the pups and Sophie. he's a hero indeed. Rest in peace now SImon, may there be lots of grubs in the heavens

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was sure the whole lot of them were doomed. It would have been TOO great a loss.

I loved the first 5 minutes. Aren't those pups just the most precious little darlings ever?! And I loved stockards narration in this one. "Little beakers not gonna take THIS lying down" XD

Nugget is an awfully bitey little pup!

Truly an excellent season, and getting better and better.

Rocket Dog 4 week old pups - Nugget and Beaker, with Sophie and Simon babysitting, taking the pups out to get some grubs, they had to worry about a storm coming up, a snake in the bolt hole where they took shelter and if that wasn't enough - Maybelline [RD sister] and her gang Aztecs blocking the front - trying to get to the pups, however the storm chased the Aztecs away - Simon took the fatal bite from the snake, so Sophie and the pups could escape and return to RD and the Whisker family. I thought Nugget and Beaker looked bigger then the other pups I have seen on MM and they said tonight that they are the biggest pups to ever come out of a burrow that the researchers have recorded.

Bless our Simon....Nugget & Beaker are still with us to go forward as Whiskers. Sophie, my soul's mate since Season 1....Truly Mozart's daughter!

The shows have been beautiful; the cinematography exquisite. Even SC has begun to fade into the background as not the most important feature of Meerkat Manor...a realization she has come to perhaps. Smile

Thanks Ben, know how busy you are with you meer mod buddy on leave.

I sure am glad that Sophie and the pups were ok after Simon's ultimate sacrifice. It hurt to see his little body, lying their motionless; however, knowing that he saved the other three made me feel a bit better. If he hadn't been there with Sophie to take care of the pups, all three would have been gone. Simon, may you always be remembered for your bravery and love for the pups.

Precious Sophie was able to lead RD to her beautiful pups. She may be having a hard time resisting Wilson, but this week she made up for it, and then some. I think Sophie is one of the prettiest meerkats I have ever seen. Good luck, Sophie. I love you Smile

I agree that the pups looked pretty big for their age. That's good, though, because that could help ensure their survival. Flower's grandkids might be taking after her. It has been said that Flower was rather large for a female. I sure am glad that RD didn't have complications from the size of her babies.

There are 19 Whiskers now, according to the narration. I think that SC is doing better and better. She just needed a chance and some time.

I liked the 2 story starters that lead up to the ending. A good way to show 2 sides to the story. Made me think of just how dangerous it is between other meerkats and snakes and birds and WOW!

I don't have AP anymore, but I can't find the link to where you can watch them online... Help, please?

It looks like a great season...I don't want to miss it.

Loved, loved, loved the beginning and all the footage of the pups they are simply adorable. I could watch an hour of just pups playing.
Loved the way that the meerkats sheltered the pups when RD was feeding them, looked like they were trying to provide her a bit of privacy.

It was really cute the way that Simon would start to bring food to the pups but then couldn't resist eating it himself.
Sophie so much the image of her momma and the bravery as well, to actually risk her own life for the DF's pups.

Interesting the way they did the 2 versions of the same story although I must admit at first I didn't understand what they were doing. I didn't know who to root for since they are both the daughters of Flower. More than once I wondered what Flower would have done in the situation since the Whiskers split up when she was still alive but they didn't try to attack each other.

The only thing I didn't like about the episode was the death of Simon (who ever he or she may be). But I realized that it was just a storyline and nothing more.
I knew that we would be seeing a meerkat die this week, afterall this was the 8th episode.

Looking forward to next week to hear about the Aztecs and see my man Zaphod.

Yes, I agree with you Angie. Pups and more pups...love to watch them and their little round heads. So small....it was so cute when they were left alone at the end and then Sophie went back to get everyone and they came back to them just sitting and waiting. Priceless!

Poor "Simon"....wonder where Randy and Paula were? Seacrest is in another group.... Simon did what was needed and paid the ultimate price. Bless that little Meerkat....I thought that sometimes they can survive a snake bite? So tough out there...on the ground....in the air....geez....and we complain?

I think the researchers should name the next group of Meerkats after some of us....

I thought the photography of the storm was excellent. Interesting story line from the pups to RD. The narration was very much in the background so I could follow the story. It looks like AP is trying new things to see how fans like it. I learned many years ago that you have to change or you end up in a backwater. Thanks AP enjoyed the episode. Magic Meerkat

The pups were so incredibly cute. Could have enjoyed a whole episode of playfighting and watching the pups learn to forage.

Watching Simon change his mind about sharing his food reminded what a sacrifice babysitting is. Not only do babysitters give up an opportunity to forage, they are also expected to protect the pups even at the expense of their own lives.

Who is Simon anyway? I don't see any Whiskers meerkat with that name on the name list.

The writers named him after Simon Colwell from "American Idol." They have a habit of naming 'kats after stars who watch the show: Whoopi, Seacrest, Leary, Liz...

This is the first episode I have watched since the season opener, and the Flower movie. Not because I was avoiding MM, I was just out of the country and didn't have access to it.

I really liked this episode. I liked the way they told the story from two points of view and I thought Sophie and Simon's story - though it ended sadly for Simon - was well done.

The fact that the writers change the meerkat names from what they are in the Kalahari doesn't really bother me, I view them as actors who are playing a role that illustrates a facet of the meerkat's lives.

Simon's dilemma with the insects was hilarious. The pups were adorable. Now I have to go find the other eps from the season so I can catch up.

This episode had every thing - but most of all it had pupspupspupspupspupspupsand more PUPS!!!!! Nugget and Beaker nursing, playing, biting and chasing - what we have so wanted to see. And my sakes are they biggen's!! It's also good to see our RD so fat and sassy - what a precious Momma she is Big Grin

MM, your film crews are doing an amazing job, showing us the beauty of the Kalahari as well as the "in the burrow" scenes. I applaude their tenacity - ain't no way I'd be getting near those dangerous snakes - there isn't a camera pole long enough nor is there enough beer in the world!! I would love to work on the KMP with the researchers, but am begining to think working with the film crew would be even more exciting!! JASON!! HOW 'BOUT "A DAY IN THE LIFE OF..."???

Special kharma for Simon, he did his duty in the great tradition of Shakespeare, the bravest of all meerkats! Flower's genes run true again. And heaven has a new star shining over the desert once again Frown

I really like the way the story was told in two parts, and showing us that the pups were safe with RD really enhanced the story.

This is truly an exciting season and just reminds me why I'm so invested. Outstanding episode! Wink

Yo

After a wonderful 7 episodes that have followed real life closely, Divided We Fall took a fall into pure fantasy.

Don't worry about Simon. He never existed.

Now we have to wait two weeks for the story to continue. Sigh...

I really loved the episode.
The AP people are showing the day and the life of a meerkat we do not know which day and which meerkat they are showing.

Hi, burrowmates; you have pretty well expressed
most of my thoughts about the show. The one thing we found adorable was the pups digging
with those ever-so tiny paws.
Kudos to AP for NOT showing Simon actually sub-
staining the snake bite. The camera was in the
bolt hole and the "bite" probably was on film.
Yet, AP elected not to show the clip but a clip of Simon who appeared to be resting.
RIP my darling little one. We shall miss you
but at least you are with your grandmother.

All in all this was a good episode. But, as much as I like Sophie, I think they are going a little overboard with her. I mean no disrespect to Sophie or Sophie fans. It's just that I would just like to see other Whiskers females from time to time. But I guess the other females weren't available for filming or were in contract negotiations! Big Grin

Anyway, like I said....good episode. It was an action packed episode. It showed just how devoted babysitters are to their charges, and how far they are willing to go to protect them.

This week will be another episode and next weeks (8-8-08) will not be on as it will be a puppy show due to the Olympics starting. This weeks show should be a good one!

LOL! I knew my Maybelline was "innocent"! Big Grin
Well I sure am glad Simon never existed. I've really had enough of these puff adders. Normally I would say I love and appreciate all animals but knowing what happened to my Flower I think I can say I love all animals except puff adders. Although maybe a show called Puff Adder Manor could persuade me to change my mind.
Anyway, fantasy or not, it was an episode I enjoyed immensely. I cried for the pups and Sophie when I thought they were in danger, I cried for Rocket Dog when I thought she was going to lose her pups and I cried for brave little Simon. And of course I was elated when the pups and Sophie were reunited with the rest of the Whiskers. Fiction or not it added a much needed half hour of joy to my otherwise stressful week. Smile
Can't wait to see more of Beaker and Nugget.

This episode was lovely just to see Nugget and Beaker. It was showing typical behaviour but no more. "Sophie" is just a name they use, and they show different kats each time. After Zaphod settled with Aztecs in late Sept/Oct, for some reason they didn't meet the whiskers in the coming months, but did meet other groups, hence next weeks episode. RD pups were born in November,so this event is fantasy. The next episode may readdress the balance of the two sisters, as neither are good/bad, just doing what they need to do to survive.
I did support Caroline Hawkins request to keep information secret whilst the show airs, but when they spin into fantasy, it makes you wonder why!!!!!

Thank You Mod Ben for that information!

I agree with Queenflower, even it was a made up episode, it was great to see. I really enjoyed seeing Rocket Dog and her Pups, Nugget and Beaker. What fine looking male pups they are too! So nice to watch them play and eat and just watch them period. Who ever Sophie is, shes a fine female, doing a great job as babysitter. Poor Simon, who ever he may have been, hes still a meerkat, and therefor precious.

I cant wait for this weeks epidsode!

Confused, have been reading different areas of mm chat. Understood someone said that Sophie is really Ella and that the "Sophie" died in 2007 I believed they said. Why have another meerkat pose as her what is the purpose? Also, now I have read Simon never existed. What is going on? Also, how is a person become a senior member?
