Is it me or do I feel that the snake had a little help in getting in the botte hole. The snake was run off by the meerkats , it went one way and the meerkats went the other. Then it shows us the snake going down the meerkats hole way ahead of the meerkats> That snake must have been doing 50 mph to beat Flower and the others home. This is why I'm having a hard time in believing that the snake got a little outside help from the crew filming the show. Makes a good story when the Queen Meerkat gets MURDERED by the crew, I mean snake! It is just to coincidental for things to happen the way they did. Poor Flower, she died needlessly for better ratings!
Trust me, the researchers did not help the snake. They were heartbroken over it and even burried her. The snake got there first because the Whiskers were slowed up because Axel couldn't keep up. They had to slow down to get him. Please don't blame him though. It's not his fault he got left behind by his family and couldn't keep up with the Whiskers.
My thoughts exactly....this whole thing was a set up. Great way to make a lot of money is to kill the star. After all it really comes down to money. How pathetic!

attila-the-honeypie, are you really this nieve to believe every thing the producers tell you? To think that this show just happens the way it is filmed is crazy because if the film crew did not assit then Meerkat Manor would be a really boring show to watch! So please, come out of the shell that you live in and welcome to the real world!
Don't call me nieve Ricky. If anything you're the nieve one for thinking that an animal cannot die on it's own. She was not immortal. Also, why would anybody kill of their star on purpose? A lot of people are saying that they are going to stop watching because Flower died. That means that they're probably losing money.
For starters Rickydiamond, you shouldn't be so rude to Attila!!! She was right, the producers were IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR FLOWER'S DEATH! I believe that most of them were just as heartbroken as the rest of us are. To state that they would deliberately murder her is absurd. Nature is cruel and unforgiving at times, and that is why she died.
How do you know that the film crew is not responsible for Flowers death? Were you there? Do you belive everything that you hear as being the gospel truth? My point is from watching the show, the snake went one way and the meerkats went another but somehow the snake got ahead of the meerkats which if watching the film would have been impossible without OUTSIDE HELP. So you can think what ever you want and I can think what I want especially when I am looking at the film and seeing things a lot different then they happened!

No, I do not beleive everything I hear. In fact, I tend to be suspiceous of things. Again I must point out what I said about LOSING MONEY IF YOU LOSE VEIWERS!

Animal Planet stands to make a lot more money from Flowers death. Just look at all the publicity the show is getting since Flower died. Just look at the increased activity on these boards. IMO This was a business decision, plain and simple.
the thing that bothered me is, I wondered if the camera people were there and filmed the snake going into the burrow..I wished they would have stopped it. Not because I think they could know Flower would die..just that a horrible tragedy was bound to happen. I do not think they deliberately guided the snake to the burrow. as to the speed of the snake getting there before the gang..remember there is such as thing as editing..they might not have shown every little moment of the foraging time. Nor did they film all the movements of the snake making it's way to the burrow. The Whiskers could have been out longer then it appeared in a 30 minute episode. just my thoughts.
The show is not getting any more publicity. Go Google it. 2 articles on Flower's passing. This board is getting a lot of activity because people are morning Flower.
Flower's death is not going to help this show. It has upset a lot of people and many will never watch again.
The show is edited and the snake may not have even entered the botte hole on the same day. It could have been a week later for all we know.
lol No offense but when you came to the conclusion that they traveled different ways im wondering how you know that they did? hard to judge a panaramic view of the direction of something with only a few seconds and feet to work with.
However, instead of it being all linked could it have been spaced out? the snake was around so it could of easily have just stuck around and stumbled on to the burrow a day later, I wont watch that part of the episode again but i would suggest watching th shades and the way they are cast it could tell alot to the actual time difference between the meerkats chasing it off to the time the meerkats got to the burrow. hmm maybe ill go on ap site and check this out for myself.
AND the money concern to make money, i got this question for you. If they took flowers out of the kalahari and had her travel the diferent zoo's on display wouldnt that make more money then what a tv episode could offer.. dont they make money by ad's and viewers how many people never watched the episode that went to just watch that episode cause flowers died? even though they had no real clue who she was.
The tough part of watching this show is that IT REALISTICALLY PORTRAYS NATURE. And Nature includes animals' life and death struggles. Every time a pup gets snatched by a bird of prey or other predator or one of the meerkats die, it upsets me, but I have to keep repeating, "It's nature. It's nature." All animals have to eat and they do so by instinct. I was shocked that Flower died, but she had a long, powerful reign and she lost her life while being the strong mother and leader she was. We will all miss her.
Maybe the snake got to the burrow before the meerkats by going in a different hole that it found after they chased it away. And then it could have been heading face first through the burrow toward the hole that Flower went in.
You do not know how far away the snake was. It had plenty of time. The Whiskers didn't start back to the borrow right away, while the snake left ASAP. Why would they risk life and limb by even trying to move the snake. Why would the researcher even let them. If anything they will lose money on this.
I think what we all need to bear in mind is that MM is a reality show. And like any other reality show, the producers have certain facts to work with, some of which are caught on film and others which are not. So they have several goals... first, to piece all the bits of film together in a way that somehow resembles the events as they occurred, and second, to tell a story that is compelling. As we've seen in other episodes, on occasion the editors or writers may take a little 'creative' liberty in order to present a coherent drama in a half-hour format. So what we actually see in the course of a two or three minute segment may or may not closely resemble the time-line and sequence of events as they played out that day.
If you've ever watched any interviews with human reality show participants, the story is usually familiar... "Yes.. those things did happen, but it came off much differently on television than the way we perceived it during filming."
I suspect if the Whiskers were able to tell us their story... it may differ somewhat from what we think happened.
