Wow... That is so sad. I didn't Expect Zorro or Rocket dog to pass away. I thought Rocket dog passed away by getting ran over... This is a sad season's finale.

Well I posted too soon...

I have been erasing and rewriting my post for the last 45minutes... Decided to wait til the end to see what happens.

I'm typing as the shows progress.

First Episode:

It's nice to see the two evicted gals teaming up, and joining forces with Wilson and Philippe. They would stand a better chance of survival together. It's sad, though, that Wiley Kat's little ones didn't make it. Let's hope Sophie's pups fare better.

Zaphod sure did look overly tired when he was watching the Aztecs' burrow. I hope he's around for a while longer. I heard that toothless comment. I don't know what to make of that, but it's a concern.

Second Episode:
I realize that Rita was following her instincts, but what's going to happen to the family over the winter? Poor Rocket Dog. She could have evicted her. I wish things would improve for the family. I feel so badly for the whole group. That loss really hurts when you don't have the numbers to begin with.

The rovers weren't too much help. I thought they would stick around, but they didn't. Sophie and Wiley Kat will have to work harder to stay alive now.

Sophie's back It's great that she's ok. Her 3 pups give me more hope for the family. Moving her pups must be difficult, but they have to do it before it is too late.

Good for Rita, going back for her son. I was holding my breath as they headed back.

Third Episode:
Poor Whiskers...trying to keep everyone safe. The pups are safe, but RD looks to be in tremendous pain. She has proven that she is willing to risk death to protect the pups. Since she is not with the others at this point, I understand their anxiety, but they have to pull it together somehow.

Sophie is showing signs of being a great mother. She's trying to save the little ones. I'm glad Axel tried to help, too. Without his help, they may have lost another little one.

Miles sure was brave to come back. With Zorro unaccounted for, he came back, but perhaps at the wrong time. He still has to respect Baker because he is the one in charge.

Sophie will make a good leader, if she can keep herself calm under pressure. She did well this time in keeping calm. If this is any indication, she can do this.

RD, how we miss you. You just barely had a chance to prove yourself, and you improved a lot in that short time. Your mama taught you well. Your choice to let Sophie come back may very well have saved the rest of your family. Good for you, trying to help your family find a home. Sweet Princess, we will never forget your sacrifice and love. Good for you, making it through the snake bite. May you always be with your family in spirit, like our dear Flower.

Zorro has now been lost...so sad. Miles and Baker really duked it out, but in the end Miles ends up the leader, despite Baker's initial victory.

I'm sure glad Nikita pulled out of the fight. She could have killed one of the brothers.

Good luck to ALL meerkats. We may have our favorites, but they are all precious.

The best episode I have ever seen all because the Recovery of such a beloved cat. I know someday she would go as is the way of life but I wouldn't have been ready for it one season after my girl Flower passed away on me...

Sophie would be such a great Queen but Loisng Rocketdog would break my heart after all the bad luck she has had as DF of the Whiskers. the only thing that would have made this better would have been if Zaphod had come and nursed her(I know he is DM of the other group now)

Bravo!!! -- Rocket Dog's a tough kat -- Flower would be so proud! Love it when cooperation and compassion win out -- Sophie, your mom would be proud of you too sister kat!

Wonder what Season 5 will bring???

I've been gone from the forum for quite some time but have faithfully watched every episode of MM season 4. Because of the loss of Flower and Mozart I felt very disconnected this season; until tonight. When RocketDog was bitten I didn't shed a tear. Just sat there cursing AP and the researchers. Then the miracle happened and RocketDog survived...I fell in love with her as I had fallen in love with Flower, Mozart, Shakes, Kink and all the others. The tears started rolling down my face and haven't stopped. Sophie is my girl but RocketDog has now found her own place in my heart. She really is Flower's daughter. Bravo RocketDog!!!!!!

Ok, I'm a long time lurker - been reading these boards since Oct. 2007. I finally decided to join! My very first question: Obviously, Rocket Dog let Sophie back in. What about Wiley Kat? Was she mentioned again?

In the first episode, it was good to see that the Aztecs are swelling in the ranks--Maybelline's four precious pups!!! And good ole Zaphod looks happy at home...babysitting again!

Hard hitting the mean streets of the Kalahari alone, but at least Sophie and Wiley-Kat had each other. Sad though, that WK's pups didn't make it. But raising pups on your own--too difficult and dangerous.

Sophie and Wilson romancing again--something is in the air!

In the Second Episode
Now the Whiskers are down to nine with one pregnant and potentially dangerous subordinate female--Rita. Oh, it was reminiscent of Mozart and Kinkaju when RD came home to find her pups gone. But when we first saw Rita's pup Juno, my heart melted. Too cute for words. But dear, dear RD nurses him when it seems like Rita doesn't care.

Flashman, Pickle and Chips, need I say more?

Another burrow move (sigh). My heart lept into my throat when I saw Juno all alone, floundering about. At least Rita stepped up to the plate this time, and Juno could follow her. Rita's reunion with her burrow mates was funny, getting a big bear hug from one of them.

And finally, The Darkest Day

It was too gut-wrenching to see RD's swollen head. Brought back memories of Flower... Say what you will but I despise those snakes!!!Thanks to RD's courage the pups did indeed cheat death. How did she summon the courage to move on in her condition? She is indeed Flower's daugher. Thank God that Axel saved Chips as they were moving on. And Sophie, where would the Whiskers be without you? Sophie you reek of strong leadership...and who knows what the future will hold.

Ah, Zorro, RIP

And the pups emerging from the burrow on their own...life goes on.

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - ROCKET DOG DID NOT DIE IN TONIGHT'S EPISODE!!!! THAT WAS THE CLOSER, THE REASON TO KEEP YOU WATCHING.

SHE SURVIVED THE SNAKE BITE IN TV LAND - AS FOR THE REAL WORLD, WHO KNOWS. BUT SHE DIDN'T DIE IN TONIGHT'S EPISODE!!!

Hello Everyone, it's been awhile, I hope I didn't miss much.

Well about tonight; I'm sad for Zorro. I hope Miles wins. Zaphod looks tired, I hope all is well for him. I just put my 9 year old to bed. She was crying, a little because she is scared and a little because she is relieved. She is afraid that during the break of the season's tapings that Rocket Dog will die. I've tried to comfort her and explain, but to a 9 year old who just loves these little creatures (me too) its hard. Does anyone know??? Please just send me a sign that all is good with her. You don't have to spoil anything else, just let me know that Rocket Dog is OK. She will be very relieved.

Can't wait for season 5. Love Stockard Channing.

Miss everyone, been away at my in-laws in Nebraska for the past several weeks. Now I'm home getting ready for school. Talk to you all soon.

Good for Sophie, but what happened to Wiley Cat? Sophie is my hero and I think she will be a wonderful leader.

This was a very touching episode of Meerkat Manor. While I was trying to watch it, my dad tells me he whould rather watch the olympics. I could not let him, I told him that I had been waiting for this moment for a long time. He couldnt' really argue with me now. He knows I like my program and that I will do anything to keep it on. Having nothing else to do, he sat down and watched Meerkat Manor. But as time went by, he began to talk about it. How do those meerkats put up with all that drama? Those meerkat have quick reflexes when they mob snakes. What kind of birds are the meerkats' predators? These where only a few examples. Then my other noisy siblings came over and watched it too. It was quite clear that they were hooked. They asked me questions too. A grin spread across my face. They were enjoying themselves. As the show continued, and RocketDog was bitten by the snake, I even heard a few sniffles in the background. My dad had forgotten about the olympics, my siblings had forgotten about annoying me, all they were focusing on was all the action in the show. I think that is part of what made these last three episodes so awesome! I just hope there will be amazing moments like that in the future. Season 4 has been a great season! Thank you animalplanet for all your hard work in the making of this show!

Woah a snake bite? The meerkat site said that she was hit by a car.

Oh my gosh! the last episode of season 4, it brouht tears to my eyes. i was so scared that rocket dog might die. (i'm very attached to rocket dog because from the first second i saw her i fell in love, and i took the personality quiz and i'm rocket dog, and rocket dog is a girl like me). it was definetly the most sad, exiting, and scary of all of the episodes i've seen so far. to see my beloved rocket dog all puffy and tired made me cry but when she crawled out of the burrow and she was ok i was running around the house screaming. i'm glad that the last episode of the season had a happy ending.

The description for the third episode says, "as the series ends"...so is there really going to be a season 4?

i forgot to say in my last post that i hope rocket dog has more pups. it was so sad when that other meerkat ate all of poor rocket dog's babies but it might have been a good thing because if the babies would have lived it would have been much harder to move burrows. i can't wait for season 5.

Wow... I actually teared up when I saw RD pop back up, I was confused since they had said RD was killed after filming.

And I don't think Wilson will ever calm down, but it just seems Sophie and Wilson are meant to be together.

RD13: RD was killed by a truck after filming ended for this season. This was confirmed by the scientists after rumors were spreading.

Sorry Rocket Dog 13....there is a main road that seperates the manor(farm/reserve)...I climbed a fence and followed the Commandos across it when I was there in June '08. But loved the back to back episodes tonight...one long night of watching our wonderful meerkat families. I too liked how they ended the season. I was so afraid they were going to say that RD died of a snake bite, when some of us knew she lived through it and remained the dominant. While she was recovering, no one tried to take her dominance from her either!...love that Sophie (Ella) for that. She is showing true leadership. Animal Planet stuck pretty close to the actual events on this one and I'm glad they did. It made us love RD more and more...and remind us that she IS Flower's daughter after all.

I was shocked by all the fighting over the dominance at the Commandos though. That was tough to watch!

And the Aztecs...all going smoothly with ole Zaphod still in the picture. Believe me he strong, able, and doing well...at least when I saw him. Can't wait to read more posts of your thoughts.

sigh. i miss rocket dog. what makes it more sad is that it wasn't nature that killed her, it was a truck, a man-made item. WHY DID HUMANS HAVE TO MAKE CARS!!!
ok, sure we use them to get to faraway places but people are so reckless and hit animals with their cars.

Great episodes tonite. I have to say that the last episode made me go back to last season and depressed the heck out of me. The snake bite reminded me too much of Flower. I really got mad because I thought they were going to say that RD died from the snake bite when we all know that she did not. I also didn't like the big fight between the brothers. I never watch when they fight.

But what I really really liked was the PUPS. They are just too adorable for words. Also the reunion of the lovers. You have to love Sophie. I am glad that they told the truth about Zorro instead of having other MKs take over the role.

Rocket Dog 13, we live out in the country, too. It's so sad to see a poor animal hit.

I have sooo enjoyed this season. Breathtaking camera work, beautiful shots of the kats. Can't believe it's over already. Tonight's episodes were great, loved seeing the pups, Juno, Flashman, Chips and Pickles. Loved seeing Zaphod the Great! It was really hard seeing poor RD like that, though. She went through so much, they all do, everyday. Poor Zara. RD looked so much like her momma.

Yes, Rocket Dog 13.... Sophie does take over after Rocket Dog dies...she is still there today and her real name is Ella

Can I hop into your backpack and go with you? I could have stayed there all summer. Tell Sophie, not the meerkat, HI . You will meet her when she picks you up in Upington. It was the most exciting thing I've done in my lifetime. Pure joy!

I got sad a few times when I saw an evicted female...but there was sooooo many other things to watch and see that you just get into it.

I emailed someone that had shared her thoughts here after her visit last year and she was a great help to me in getting ready. Hope you are doing well and all packed. Any questions? There are a few of us that went that log on here often.
