I agree with katlady1115 about (Another insensitive commercial on AP's behalf - again making light of the fact that the pups' loose their lives - I know they are just showing what happened but the sarcastic "at least the pups are safe") it gave you the impression the pups would be ok at least in this episode. and not knowing watching little Squiggy running made me laugh he was so cute, now just feel so bad for both of them.
This episode really makes me appreciate the Moomins and Fluffernutter.
But part of the reality was the lack of food. They had nothing to give to Squiggy which is why he grew weaker. Had there been food he might have grown stronger and survived, but the situation was what it was.
Still, keep hope alive. Shakes found Mitch out of the blue. Maybe Zaphod did the same for Squiggy.
QFT kittyglitter's post. That was absent minded thinking to air that promo with Carlos after the fact that he has died. Tasteless IMO, Animal Planet. As for the drama in Flower's mob, this is nature in it's rawest form. No surgar and dancing lolipops here, people. Instinct, survival of the fitest. I'm more put off by the posts of viewers here, knowing full well that this is nature, upset and shocked that this is all happening. Yes, I am feeling the same emotions because I am human and not a creature. But you just have to move on, just like Flower did, or the wieght of the events happening will bring you down and eventually to your demise.
BTW, what is all this talk about Flower dieing(yea, i know ventually she will die)? So far up to this episode and the next she looks still alive and kicking. O.o
I wonder how the ones documenting them are holding up? Being right there for 10+ years, they are the people that need much strength spiritually to continue this wonderfull and much apreciated study for us to see. Many prayers and thoughts I send to that group of researchers for their dedicated work. Bless them and the inhabitants of the Kalihari. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more to come!
*edit* nvm about Flower, sadly I found the always unavoidable spoiler section of the board. =p

Hi, this is my 1st forum and I'm writing cause I'm just broken hearted. How can the people filming watch a Meerkat pup just DIE because he's been abandoned. It just killed me when Shakespear disappeared, but to just watch Squiggy die...I don't know if I can keep watching the series.
i know i'll keep watching b/c of brave & thoughtful mitch. i really hope he survives this season. he definitely seems like dm material for sure!
AP just drop your whole sarcastic, cruel, death loving, commercial copying, pop music having ad campaign! your loyal meerkat viewers are completely disgusted by the whole thing!!!
I'm done with this show. I like the meerkats and all, but I just can't take being this upset after every episode anymore. I already have enough stress in my life without watching meerkats die every week. That may be nature, but nature is just too harsh for me to deal with.

I agree. It seems that the only kind researchers are the ones who saved Kanut the polar bear, and even then... some cold hearted jerks wanted him dead.
I watch it DESPITE, (not because of), the reality of their life, the difficulty of losing friends we have gotten to know, and the insensitivity of AP commercials.

Again, QFT! It's really tasteless and just all gimmics. I didn't need those to get interested in MM. Is the ratings that bad this year?
Viewers, remember it's darkest before the dawn. Nature knows what she is doing. Please believe in that. Don't be unforgiving and hateful to the researchers for not "interfereing". Everything will work out to how it is ment to be.
This is probably my first and last time on this forum.I agree with Omgrita about little Squiggy. Carlos dying bumbed me out pretty good but watching little Squiggy trying to keep up with the rest of the tribe on his deformed leg threw me overboard. I realize it's survival of the fittest, but it's a double whammy when something is wrong with you. Those researchers surely didn't let him die scared and alone. I really like this show but i may have to pass on the rest of them. It's starting to depress me.
dirtyllama.... I don't think the ratings are bad, I just think AP sees an opportunity to really take the ratings to the next level.

Very true, And how awesome was it that Flower split the group to give them all a better chance to find food?!! My neice asked why the other meers didn't bring Squig food, I told her, they cant bring the little guy ants...they are too small.

Neimann...posted; The most touching scene was as Mitch was standing next to Squig and Squig was standing there and looked up at Mitch.....
That was very touching, I rewound it a couple of times to watch again.
I do however question the way they presented Mitch as being the only one to stand by the pups. Someone else helped Mitch carry the pups on the first forage. Also, they tried to imply that Mitch was right there when the hawk attacked. Mitch is awesome, but I think AP goes overboard sometimes when talking about him.
Another question to ponder. Do you think the researchers might have taken Squig to live in captivity??
I have been watching MeerKat Manor since it started. I have to say I'am very upset with Animal Planets commericials. How terrible! To make light of Len and Squiggy and say "at least the pups are safe!" And whats up with showing the Carlos commericals after his demise? Animal Planet at least should think of the viewers who love the Meerkats, otherwise the show wouldn't be so popular. They are totaly insensitive!
I was Shattered and heart broke for Mozart, after Kinajou asserted her domince. Then poor Carlos lying in the hot sun, now the poor babys, Len and Sguiggy! I will forever see the tears in Mozarts eyes, and hear the crys of poor Sguiggy, and Bubbles!
I know its survial of the fitest. I keep telling myself that. My human emotions get in the way here, and the show is getting harder to watch, so could someone at Animal Planet please here the viewers crys, and tone down the commericals. I sure dont want to see commericals about Flower, after Journey End airs. How about it? Anyone agree? Thanks for letting me vent! Kescha Meerkat
I wonder if AP will ever explain their decisions for this years episodes? I mean, I'm just curious. Yes, it's nature, but after the fluff.....why the cruel world now?
At the end of this gloom is there a rainbow? Or will we all own stock in Kleenex Tissues?
Newman......who had better check her supply of tissues......
I would love to think that the researchers took sguiggy into captivity! That was so heart breaking, he was so cute, but all the pups are. It would be nice if we could find out.
ZTM posted; One question I have is that with all the footage they must have of Flower from the last year of her life, why did the producers choose to not focus on her more this season? This is not a complaint, but a curiosity.
They are probably saving most of thier Flower footage for the movie. How cruddy would that be to go to the movie and half of it be footage that has already been shown on MM?
I use to look so forward to Friday nights; coming home from work and settling in for a night with the Meerkats. After the past few weeks, my heart starts racing before the show even comes on. I can't just watch Friday night, cry and get it out of my system. My sadness last all week-end. I worry about the Meerkats and cry for the ones who have died. I know I could quit watching and that's probably what I should do before the sadness overwhelms me but I just can't help myself ~ I love them and I want to see them and know how they are doing. I've got to figure this out!
OMG... you guys are not alone....this was a really diffuicult one to watch. I thought after all the Lenny and Squiggy hoopla there would be a happy ending but instead my heart is broken Those poor pups never had a chance......OMG bless them and pray that it was really quick. but poor Squiggy's calls for his family and food.....that will haunt me....
Newman, this Season has been sad, I cry Friday night, Saturday, Sunday by Monday I start to hope that next week's episode will be better - (or the reality of it) I am glad they are showing us what really happens out there - that is what we asked for - I just wish it would be done with some sensitivity - the commercials - the portrayal/editing - tonight's episode was better than the previous 2 - I am glad we did not see the little lifeless body - or an entire episode of the pup suffering for weeks and weeks - his cries were enough - we know what happened -
I am sad for the loss of 2 pups and feel bad because there is a part of me - knowing the end result - that wishes that the goshawk had taken Squig and at least Len would be alive - he may have survived this drought and hard times - someone stated it above or in another post - these were possibly Flower's and Zaphod's last pups - I wish at least one of them could have made it - this depression and guilt is not good for me -

But what about the hawk? He is an integral part of the eco-system, as well. And he has to eat, too.
Now that was my head talking. Having said that, I must admit that I have chased off carnivorous birds in backyard to protect chicks while their mom's are out looking for food.
I see what you mean. Some of my favorite animals are birds of prey and of course meerkats. So I can see that the bird deserves to eat, but it's hard watching an animal who's heart of gold captured your own heart get picked off by a predator.
By the way, I loved how Len blocked his eyes when he came out of that dark burrow. It was like he was saying "Aaugh, the sun! It burns!" It was sooo cute!

I live in a condo, and we have a tiny fenced in area for a backyard. There's a hawk that lives in our area, and
