We couldn't make it through the full episode--to boring. My take:they really need Sean back.

As I've stated before I will not root for either team for they are the strong daughters of Flower, I will just root for all the meerkats.

It's amazing when you think that Flowers genes are in just about every family in the Kalahari, quite a feat for a 12" 2lb little meerkat. That's why she was and always will be the Queen of the Kalahari.

I didn't like that Zaphod was labelled as a senior citizen and they made him appear to be senile. He's old timer that deserves the respect of everyone in the manor. All he was doing was heading out to meet some ladykats and show some of his skills to the younger ones that plus he wanted the ladykats to see his new bling(in the form of his new radio collar).

R.D. is no pushover either which is how they portrayed her, to me she looked pregnant and we all know from watching Flower that it's alot easier to try and still someone's food then mess up your nails digging for it yourself.

Maybelline will get the hang of being a leader afterall she had the best teacher out there. But she does need more males in her group besides little Murray.

Does anyone know who Angie the meerkat really is??????
I was on the KMP board trying to match the names up in the Astecs but I didn't see any identifying dye marks on Angie to help me figure out who she really is. I had read that Brad and Angelina are big fans of the show so they may have named a kat for her. Since my name is also Angie I thought it was so cool to hear a meerkat with the same name.

I am anxious to tune in next week though I may turn the volume down or turn on closed caption it's just too strange listening to Ms. Channing. BRING SEAN BACK !!!!!!!

I meant to say that Flower use to steal food from others not still.

For some reason I cant get in all of sudden to edit my own posting, funny how I was able to yesterday but can't today.

Nice that it was less intense than S3. I'm pretty sure its too late to get Sean back since they must have completed the season already, and yes he is missed. It seems like the writing has changed as well. Ms. Channing is a fine actor but narration is so different than getting into a character. Hope she gets better as the season progresses. Her director should take some of the criticism for the mediocre performance as well. The great thing about Sean was that it was as if he was telling you the story from his own experience rather than reading a script.
Zaphod may be old but experience makes all of us stronger as long as we ward off the grim reaper. Some older people are successfully running countries. I thing big Z can handle the Kalahari.

I was so excited to FINALLY watch Meerkat Manor again, I have watched it from the beginning, well, I was so disappointed in the narrator, I turned it off! I TRIED to give her a chance, but couldn't even get through half of the show! I didn't even bother with the next show, there just wasn't any PERSONALITY from her, as there was from Sean Astin. I don't know if Sean just doesn't want to do the narration any longer, or if it was Animal Planet, maybe there are different writers for Meerkat Manor this season? Whatever the reason, I will no longer watch this show. Meerkat Manor was so refreshing, so different. I am sadden to say this, because I truely enjoy Animal Planet, now, I will have to find something else to watch during that time slot.

Please, bring back Sean Astin...

Oh, come on. Enough with the anti-narration complaining. It wasn't THAT bad! Sean read from a script, just as everyone does on shows like this, and I for one LIKE the slight change. After all the intensity and death of last season, it was nice to see an overall "lazy days" feel to the episode. I'm sure that once the action heats up again, so to will the marration. After all, Stockard is a veteran actress.

We are very excited that the new season has started and hoping that this season will not be as heartbreaking as the last. Very happy to see Zaphod settled. We are routing for both Rocket Dog and Maybelline. Both inexperienced but we love them both.

We are not crazy about the new narration. Stockard and the script sound like they are trying to give the meerkats a "cheezy" soap-opera feel. Sean and past script writing was excellent. Sean's accounts of events were definitely based on known behaviours and family structure.

Yo

What I loved was the camerawork, the angles, the close ups, the right expression, drop of the head, staring into the lens. The crew really have got their stride when it comes to catching the kats on film. Or have the meerkats learned how to "act"?

I didn't notice the music much, but I missed the old themes, the gentle transitions, the drum roll as the pups took off foraging and even the scary violin sounds at the approach of Nikita and Hannibal.

But folks we are at the beginning of a new journey, so we must be a little patient and see where this road leads, hopefully we won't be like deer caught in the headlights.

Flowers daughters are beautiful, so are the Commandos, lets see if they can bring the magic to life again.

I couldn't agree more, Pronker! I especially liked the camera work. At times I thought I was watching in HD....and I don't even have an HD TV!

I know they can bring magic to life. They are descended from Kalahari royalty! I will continue to watch in spite of all the changes!

I didn't have a problem with Stockard Channing. The Meerkats are my magic, and it was magic for me! The camera angels were fantastic! I enjoyed the show alot, and I will watch it no matter who narrates it. I think its sad that some cant get past that to watch our precious kats.

Flowers daugthers are beautiful, as well as the Commandos, and zaphod is handsome. I wouldnt miss that for anything!

I agree with the last couple of posts. I really enjoyed the first episode. I was upset about all the death and suffering last season but I am just happy to see all Flowers children doing what meerkats were meant to do. (loveing, fighting, playing, hunting, and takeing care of the kids)

I loved it! Smile

Contrary to popular belief, I loved Stockard! She has that laid-back, soothing kind of voice. I was so worried that she would have a lisp or something... good thing she didn't.

I loved seeing little Murray. I think I see a new favorite emerging! Smile

Come on, guys! Give her a chance! While Stockard may not be really good now, she'll get more and more attached to the meerkats as the season goes on. She'll begin to get more emotion in her voice as she gets farther through the season. Sean was very flat the first time he narrated, too!

Ah, it was so nice to have the Commandoes actually play the Commandoes. eeing Zorilla was so great; I wonder if we saw her in season one when the Whiskers had an encounter with the Gattaca, since she was born in that group.

I, for one, will watch this show no matter what. When I get hooked on a show, I just can't stop watching. Razz

Yea!! New season! I missed Sean, although the new narrator wasn't THAT bad. The commercials look really cute. I love the one with Sophie and Wilson!! It will be great if Mozie's daughter meets her previous love!!!

Ms. Channing is a great actress but I don't think she fits the part with Meerkats. I did watch it all the way because I really love seeing them in way I can get them. But I was so sad thinking how good the show was in the first seasons. If they don't bring it back right it won't last another season.

I loved Episode 1. It was y relaxing after all the turmoil of S3. I agree with Pronker--great camera work. Stockard Channing is acceptable, but dull. Sean where are you? I enjoyed Zaphod's feistyness. He's still got his edge, even if he is a "senior."

I loved it!! It was great seeing Zaphod and all the kats. Stockard Channing is no Sean Astin(my preference), but she did a great job, in my opinion. Hope there are more Kalahari Confidential segments to come and more times in the episodes where there is no narration, just the meerkats making their precious sounds. Also hope we see more of the other animals in the Kalahari like we did the aardvark and sweet, cute yellow mongoose.

I agree with much of what's been said already. I loved the camera work and the music was not intrusive in its change. There was some familiar music, but I really did dread hearing the happy Disney-like music in episodes last season when meerkats were dying. It was heart-breaking.

I think Stockard just needs to hit her stride. I am so into watching the little scurries that I am not going to pick apart the narrator. I do wish they wouldn't act like Zaphod is on his last legs. The last visitor to KMP said he looks great. Healthy and strong for one almost 10.

I haven't seen the racier commercials, so I think they may have been taken off. I love the one with Wilson and Sophie, it's very cute. I don't think the scetch rendition of "Loner" meerkat looks like the ones on the show, though.

I still loved it and I'm looking forward to watching all the episodes. Stockard has a soothing voice, but I hope she ramps it up a bit for the exciting parts like the IGI's.

Looking forward to this Friday!

I liked it.

The photography was excellent and the meerkats' acting skills have steadily improved. I think they should join an actors union and get an agent.

I was really disappointed that Sean Astin wasn't narrating--he's one of the best parts about the show. What happened? I hope they bring him back.

Sophie and Wilson's commercial is so cute Smile

The Aztecs are doing okay for themselves. They are small in numbers, but if Maybelline finds a suitable male, that could change, with some luck. They have a home to call their own, for the moment, at least.

I hope things get better for the Whiskers in the next episode. They didn't have their own home as of Friday's episode, and that means Rocket Dog and her group will have to search for one.

Zaphod is incredible. He may be almost 10, but I wouldn't have guessed he was older than Flower. He does not know how old he is or what his lifespan is supposed to be; therefore, he could surprise all of us.

Loved the episode and was soooo relieved I didn't need to use ANY tissues. Sure, Rocketdog has a bit of a problem, but she will figure it out. You know, last year we were all saying how beautiful she was because she looked just like flower, but there was a scene where she was standing next to Zaphod. They both had their collars and they looked EXACTLY alike. Both had beautiful fluffy faces.

Did someone actually say they weren't going to watch anymore because of the narrator change? That is just ridiculous! All I can think to say is...Don't let the door hit you in the..., etc.

I loved seeing the other animals. That other mongoose was pretty cute. Great camera work. Love the new commercials..."Don't Judge, Just Watch."

It was actually alot better than i thought it would be. The thing that impressed me the most was the camara work, they did very well. I was dreading the narrarator change but channing turned out to be a very good narator for the first episode but we will see what happens in the next one.

I thought the script and photography was great. I dont like Stockard Channing. Bring back Sean Astin. What I dont like is how they are making Zaphod out to be a meddlesome old geezer who gets lost. Meerkat dominant males are supposed to chase off roving males. They also rove themselves. It's just what they do.

My only gripe is whenever they decribe "Nikita" as evil- like that one moment when she was deliberately called a "pup-eater." That's just mean! Frown

They make "Wilson" out to be like this hero in the making and "cut from a different cloth" or something, while his parents are "black-hearted"? I swear, I could slap these writers! It was okay when the Whiskers invaded the Zappa 'cause they're the heroes, but when the other families raid pantries for food, they get treated like villains. Leave the poor Commandos alone!

It repeated again tonight right before ep. 2. And I *still* can't tell you what it was about. The only reason I know it was the first season show is that Wilson confronted the snake and there was the aardvark and those are the ONLY things I remember from the first TWO times I watched it last week.

Meerkat Manor has lost it's magic. I am just so disappointed they "improved" this show down to mediocrity. I can hear the swirling now.

I have to agree with mlaiuppa. The show seems to be in it's death throws. Too bad. I loved the 1st three seasons. I own them on DVD.

I know a lot of people found season 3 to be depressing with all the deaths, but that's life in the wild.

I am amazed that they changed from Sean Astin to Stockard Channing. Why? For three years HE WAS the voice for the meerkats. I just find myself not happy with the quality of the show anymore. It's like coming home and finding a stranger in your house.
