Okay, I'm new here but one thing that's bothered me is this watering hole trough. How did it get made in the desert? It appears to be man made, and my question is does anyone know how it got in the middle of the Kalahari?I could see a little pond or stream but a trough? Can someone here put a little light on this subject?

If you're interested in this you should check out the Kalahari Meerkat Project online. Researchers live out there and there is an old farmhouse.

Thank you two so much, I will check it out shortly. The trough has been something I've meant to ask about since I've started watching Meerkat Manor, thanks again.

If I am not mistaken the KMP project bought that Farm they are living on now and is the focus of the research. Though Meerkats don't need to drink water usually they get all they need from their bugs and other juicy tidbits the occasional drink is nice.

I believe (but I'm not a 100% sure) Sean Astin
said the very first time they showed the
watering hole that it was a "remainder of
farming days".
