I was wondering the same thing? No one responded to me either. I would love to know. quote: Originally posted by luvmeers: Mod_kelly...what happened to the other pups and babysitters on the day of the cobra invasion to their den....did only one pup survive?

Oh...its funny! We all really need a bit of silliness! By the way, what is the traditional meerkat wedding gift? I need to make sure I'm prepared because I'm certain to be on the guest list!

Axel is the offspring of Lola and Frank. Thanks, Attila...I thought maybe Punk and Houdini were the parents... Attila

To luvmeers:
There were no pups or babysitters in a burrow that day. It turns out that MM producers copied and pasted footage in to make it appear as if that was the reason Flower was going up against the snake and in turn was bitten. Based on the book and other posters on the board Flower was going into a bolt hole was bitten and in turn miscarried her pups. MM Producers figured that wasn't dramatic enough so they embellished upon the story by coming up with the storyline of pups and babysitters in the burrow.
Who knows why they chose to do that considering the lose of Flower was devastating enough to all of us that love her. I sent a letter to AP telling them that we all know that Flower was a loving mother and brave leader and that mis-leading the viewers for the sake of the almighty buck is wrong. Afterall they are the ones that state this is the true story of life and death in the family of the Whiskers and then they turn around and change the facts because they didn't feel the truth of her passing was dramatic enough for ratings.
The same reagarding the adoption of Axle, it didn't happen that fateful day but a month beforehand. I'm beginning to wonder if the events playing out in each episode is really happening to the Whiskers popular ones or are the events happening to some of the other Meerkats and they are just labelling the kat as one of the popular ones.
First the incident surrounding Shakespeare and now this with Flower. AP & MM Producers need to know that we don't want to be lied to. If this is based on actual events of life and death then portray it the way that it actually happens, not the way they feel will bring the most ratings.

Meerkata, Thanks for a heads up on the truth. I am quite put out that the producers would take dramatic license like that. I'm glad you wrote to them. I read your other posts in the Spoiler section and learned that a puff adder actually bit Flower? You are right--we wouldn't grieve for her any less if they only told us the TRUTH.

Surprisingly i only just got to see this one tonight o_o I liked this episode a lot. It was different, focusing solely on Zaphod and his wild day out ;p It was also a lot more peaceful. no fights, no deaths, no intensity. Proves that the ol' boy still got it. At first I thought it would be a sad episode, poor Zaphod out on his own. But they made it seem like he was on a vacation, living the "Hakuna Matata" life as a single rover. It was kinda touching how Liz stoo by her father before he left. no doubt saying their goodbyes One thing i can't agree on though is Houdini. He did NOT write the book one roving, nor is he the master. Carlos will always hold that title

This was a good episode, I expected more gloom as that seems to be the way this part of the season is going, but I enjoyed it. Zaphod showed he hasn't lost a step by outrunning Houdini. All in all it was pretty good.

Zaphod is having a full-blown midlife crisis. All that's missing is a red Corvette convertible! Good luck, Zaphod. You deserve all the happiness in the world. Your little girl, Rocket Dog, will do just fine.

zaphod is gonna be just fine. there are plenty of meerkat groups (in the kmp study area) right now that have natal DMs. he is old, but many of the other big males are (sadly) gone. GO ZAPHOD. run to grumpy and the moomins.

this isn't really a spoiler, so i think its ok to tell it here............... zaphod gets a collar next season so they can keep track of his roving exploits

It's a spoiler, but I can use good news. I stopped going by the spoiler board because I just don't want to read about all that until the season in over. And then I will really get into KMP and all that. I think we have only three more episodes left to this season.

I have three comments on this episode.
First and most seriously, the narrator said that Punk and Houdini are expecting their first litter since they acheived dominance. OK. Then who are Rose, Axl and Slash's parents?? The only thing I can think of are that they belong to Frank and Punk or they belong to Punk and Houdini. They are not Lola's.
Also, I think Lola and Zaphod would make a great couple and could start up a new dynasty. They both suffered horrific losses and it would be good to see them get together and perhaps stay together.
Also, it is sad that Zaphod was kinda put out to pasture, that's the way life is sometimes, but maybe a little fling at the bachelor life will do him good. Zaphod is a great kat and still has a lot of life in him and a lot more adventures to look forward to, before he joins his precious Flower in the next world.

Yo nima
It's is confusing when they cross groups and litters. Axel is from Young Ones and is the offspring of Asterix the current Dom-F and I suppose Alexander (who is a half brother of Zaphod)the Dom-M. So Rose and Slash probably represented his littermates in Young Ones.

Meerkata..I absolutely agree with you. I don't like to feel I'm being lied to..for the sake of drama and ratings. If they're going to lie to us..why even show or tell of the deaths of our favorites..let them live on.. what's the point of telling us (for example) that Axel is from the Zappas..if he is from the Young Ones? so people here will try to figure out if Lola and Frank are his parents or Punk and Houdini? the boards are full of these questions and assumptions.. changing names and so forth. are they making fools of us? they created this show..this little soap opera..created charactors with names..we fall in love with them..and watch them die. I'm sorry if I sound harsh..but this season's losses are pretty harsh. Don't misunderstand me..I love the show..and the meerkats..but it's kind of confusing. I feel sad for Zaphod..but hope he has a great adventure and finds a good mate and family to be DM again. we could sure use some good news.

I watched the rerun of Farewell My Lovely...
and I wondered if Zaphod stayed with the Whiskers so long because he was waiting for Flower to return? is that why he babysat? to be at the burrow in case she came back? is it possible he left to look for her?
RIP sweet Flower.

Every question you have asked, I have asked also. I really think that he was waiting for her. But I am a hopeless romantic.

I just finished reading the book "Meerkat Manor Flower of the Kalahari" by Tim Clutton-Brock
Its the life of flower from the time she was born till she died. It lists all her pups that she gave birth to and ones who died. Its a great book.
From the info given flowers last living litter before she died would have been len & squiggy although the book gives the two pups no name. Liz was not flowers daughter as flower aborted her pups after the snake bite. The last thing Zaphod did as flower lay dying was scent mark her, i guess in the meerkat world this is like saying shes mine and goodbye?

Farewell My Lovely is my favorite episode because I love Zaphod. Do they really put a collar on our roving boy? Did he scent mark Flower? I don't recall seeing that. I loved baby Liz sitting with her good old dad.
And the end when Zaphod is alone in a burrow, so tired from a long day he can barely hold his head up. Zaphod's story is touching. I will be watching every week, and pulling for him. Perhaps scent marking really means Farewell My Lovely. Perhaps it means I love you. You're the best Zaphod. Love you. Take care out there dear sweet boy.

from what I understand from other posters who have read the book, Zaphod did groom Flower while she was dying, and then scent marked her. It wasn't shown in the episode.
Yes..good old Zaphod. I keep my fingers crossed that Zaphod will be ok. I hope that when his time does come, they will bury him with Flower.

As I understand from interviews w/ Prof. Clutton-Brock, Flower wasn't buried, but her ashes were committed to the Kalahari. This makes sense because if she had been buried, you can just imagine the after-effects. MaryJane

Yes, Flower's ashes were spread across the very Kalahari desert that she ruled.....
