In this episode, Sophie reminded me so much of Mozart!

Po Lil Sophie.. first the fall and all that hard work just to keep up - then gettin run off Guess all the devotion in the world to ones family can't stop a DF from anticipating the worst.. Heck Sophie didn't even get her some from that rover first Glad to see Seacrest settling some (for the moment) but I'll admit I was a tad piffed when RD decided to run the Aztecs off so close to burrow time. I was a little surprised she went on the hunt that late in the day actually. Guess she is in need of MeerMidol **Crossing fingers for Sophie** I hope the Mozart comparisons end tonight I don't want to see the same fate befall her. We've had a blessed season so far and would like to keep it that way!!!! Maybe she can find the rover and have his little butt for breakfast MM really needs to be a full hour, is it my imagination or do the commercials seem longer at times than the segments, lol

Would Sophie be accepted into the Aztecs and by Maybelline (if she happened upon them)?

Sophie certainly was pitiful tonite. Hope her luck changes. She was alot like Mozart like everyone said.
Tonights show (to me) was like watching an episode from the first season. Hope Sophie comes back.
It looks like Seacrest might become a star.

Wondering ... has anyone noticed if Joel McHale of E!'s 'Talk Soup' has poked a little fun at Ryan Seacrest in connection with his namesake on MM?

Thanks for the updates. I tried watching the show tonight, but ST's voice makes me sleepy. Who was the rover with whom Sophie was caught? I didn't catch the name. She was always one of my faves. She was such a dedicated babysitter.

I was glad to see how they brought more respect to RD. Poor Sophie was a good showing again of how life as a subordinant can be difficult. But Sophie is old enough that it was going to happen sooner or later. This is the meerkat way and AP was showing us the actions of a Dom Female to an erring sub.
Nice Episode, a keeper for sure.

Good episode. Rocket Dog is finally portrayed as an assertive leader. Evicting Sophie was another way of proving herself. Sophie is evicted, and alone, but there is no need to worry about her. It was not really a fight between the Aztecs, and the Whiskers. Just a "meeting".

Joel McHale always makes fun of Ryan Seacrest. He has another reason now.

"Joel McHale always makes fun of Ryan Seacrest. He has another reason now." zettak--how right you are, it's part of the fun of 'talk soup' and mchale's warped charm :-) i thought this week's episode had a better balance of chase scenes, romance, and drama than the prior episodes this season, although ... i was stopped in my tracks when SC read the line in the script about another 'nail in RD's coffin' (again, as asked so many times here and at the new blog: do the producers/writers know anything about the *real-life* events in the Kalahari?) lexie

Some weeks ago, McHale did mention Seacrest and "Seacrest" on the soup. It was something to do with comparing their height! (It was just after the premiere of the movie) Another great episode - and only complaint I have is the same one that lexie mentions. That comment - it hurt my heart a bit, you know? RD finally coming into her own. It makes me think of some of the trials and tribulations that Flower experianced as a young adult before she got her paws under her. Sophie, is it Mozzie's gentle spirit that lives on?....Or will we see the "Tosca" in her rise to the top?? Chase scenes - Aaaaannd theiroff ----> gone faster than a rocket from one my launchers!! Turning on a pfenning (way smaller than a dime), streamlined heads pointing the way, hind legs powering the missile at mach 2 away from the emeny!! I laugh from sheer delight! I have an idea! Put a horse and a rover on one end of a racetrack - at the other end, a bucket of apples and an alluring Whiskers girl! My money's on Seacrest

I loved this weeks show except for poor little Sophie. I wish her well. Stay safe little one...I think she may be ok. Paws are crossed for her return....
I am really liking this season. It is turning out to be a wonderful next generation....RD is doing a good job.....I remember Flower when she was pregnant and the hormones were raging!

Meerkat053 I thought the same thing...
My heart is breaking for Sophie, I thought the fall was going to be it, and strong baby she walked it off and then to be booted out ~sigh~ sweet, loyal Sophie...
ILoveMitch- I hope your right, that the comparisons from Sophie to her mama end tonight, I hope the best for lil Sophie...

Oh gosh, whew, i hope and pray for Sophie. Like Momma, like daughter. It is telling that Sophie is such a good babysitter. I hope some daughter or son of Mozart's survives, because their genes might have the beginning of an evolution (have no facts to base this on and i'm no scientist. An evolution of pregnant females who choose not to eat the DF's pups, resulting in allowing such females to stay. I suppose there would have to be some way to limit this to a very few, though. Still, one extra litter--seems like it might strengthen the tribe. Mozart didn't eat Flower's pups, maybe Sophie wouldn't eat RD's pups. Or maybe, like an earlier poster said, she can join the Aztecs. Seems like Maybelline could use some extras, but she might be pregnant, too. One can hope.
Maybe there will be a young rover who wants to set up house. Tonight, the narrator said females are not welcomed into another group's home. But i had the impression that Mozart might have been welcomed into the Commandos when she was with Wilson. hmmm. Mozie i like to think of your spirit giving strength to your lovely, sweet daughter.

Yo
Very interesting episode...it seems the ladykats' hormones are kicking into high gear now.
Somehow Rocket knows that her sister has set up shop just a half a mile away. RD does not want her ambitious sister that close to her group because they will soon have little ones in the burrow. Having the Aztecs that close to them is a threat and a chance the RD does not want to take, so before May and crew can make themselves at home, RD gives them the boot.
Smart lady, I'd say.
I have a feeling Sophie will be just fine after she figures things out.
But life has never been a bowl of millipedes for Rocket.
Hold onto your Whiskers folks!

My heart goes out to Sophie. It's like watching Mozart all over again. Hopefully she will find a safe haven or a new group! Her little face just gets to me. Its almost as cute as the face on the video link waiting for the videos to come up and seeing that face just makes my day. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Episode 4. Good episode; either Stockard is improving or I'm getting used to her.
Worried about Sophie. Worried about the long term survival of the Whiskers since the Commandos and Aztecs are getting equal billing.
Would like to hear a little more about Zapho every week.

I am REALLY confused. Is Sophie Rocketdogs' sister or Motzarts' daughter?? Anyway,I love her just the same. If she can locate the Aztec clan, she may have some hope, if she can make the journey. So much drama for a little meerkat at one time! Again: Poor Sophie!

Arocha, Sophie is Mozart's biological daughter. That would make her and RD aunt/neice. I think the writers are calling them "sisters" in a feeble attempt to not confuse anybody.
I'm just glad they finally gave props to Rocket Dog. It only took them four episodes. *rolls eyes*

Sophie sophie sophie! It's like Mozart all over again. I am liking the new generation though. And having Stockyard narrate. I've caught the show ondemand(comcast) and it's an english guy who did the voice over. Anyway I look forward to getting involved here again. Love talking Meerkats!!

Well, you know we can't have it both ways. If we want Rocket Dog to be respected as DF then she has to 86 Sophie - at least for a time. Isn't it unusual for a subordinate to assist in an eviction?
Loved the episode. Just like old times. Liked the teaser for next week re Zaphod and his posse.

I think this was the best episode of the season. We got to see more than just "love in the desert". I liked the development of Rocket Dog. Did you also notice they left Maybelline in a favorable light as well. Nice to see we can have two strong DF and not call one good and one evil. Nice to Seacrest's character develop. Looks like a new storyline with Sophie. I agree with a lot of you that she seems to be the new Mozart. I am also glad to see Zaphod will get some air time next week.
I know you don't want to hear this, but I gotta complain about Stockard Channing again. I think she is getting worse. For example, she sounded like she lost her best friend during her descriptions of Sophie's plight (both when she fell and when she was evicted). I know these moments were very touching, but we didnt need SC's syrupy narration to express them. I just think she takes away from the meerkats, who are the real stars of the show. I want Sean Astin or someone who is more objective.

I thought this episode was great! Rocket Dog is finally pregnant, she's got her act together and The Whiskers are taking her seriously as their leader. Poor sweet Sophie! I was worried sick when she hurt her leg. She looked so sad and woebegone that I wanted to scoop her up and hold her in my arms. Luckily, it wasn't a serious injury. Sophie was kicked out of the Whiskers because she is the oldest female and the closest to challenging Rocket Dog's throne. It's not personal. And how about RD giving Maybelline some heck? I love strong females. In closing, I know this might be heresy in some circles, but I think Stockard Channing did a terrific job in narrating this episode.

LOL, Stockyard Channing! Someone else called Bill Nighy "Bill Nighty". XD I loved the episode. Stockard's voice is so relaxing... I love it. I think she's great, but I must admit I like Sean better. Poor Sophie! That fall was unexpected... and I knew she would get evicted. She doesn't deserve it. YEAH, GO ROCKET DOG! I LOVE HER! I personally, like the way Stoackard says Rocket Dog. I say it the same way, Sean said it like that too. I don't know anyone who DOESN'T say it that way. Poor Maybelline. She can't find a place to sleep, can she? And I love Zaphod... Heh, Zaphod, don't ever change.

Gulp. Pronker, every time you used to say "Hold on to you Whiskers" during Season 3, I would get this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach and something bad would happen to one of them. I just felt that terrible feeling when I read your post. I hope everything works out for all of our little Whiskers this season and for my homegirl Maybelline and her crew. I love them all. They all carry a little piece of my little Flower with them. I can see her in all of them and it makes me smile amidst my tears. QF

Sophie's luck may be running out. I wonder what will happen next with her. When she fell, I thought the attempt to leave her behind would work, but then she decided to fight through the pain. For her to be evicted after all of that must have been as hard for her as it was for us.
Rocket Dog is actually being treated more favorably now that pups are on the way. She kicked the Aztecs out of their home. Seacrest ended up an Aztec, and now he is not wandering alone. Flower's family is carrying on and the destiny she left for them should keep them strong.
I wonder how Zaphod is doing. I'm sure he misses Flower, but he's proving himself to be quite resilient.

Awful luck for Sophie. for a moment I thought she was done for after that fall ;_; and after struggling just to get back home she's run off the manor? I hope RD lets her back in or she finds another family. I can't bear to see this happen again. not after Mozart.
RD seems to have grabbed a bit more stability and leadership. she's got pups on the way! finally! and the group is getting in line to her. Quite an iron-paw too! driving the Aztecs away and evicting Kats? and right before bedtime. that's kinda unfair :/
Great episode in general. I just hope poor sophie finds a little more luck

Yo
Zis not just for Zaphod anymore.
Anyone see next weeks commercial?
"A new hero is unleashed..."
Queenie, holding onto your Whiskers this year is a bit different as in Rocket is having a hard time holding onto her family. They all seem to be leaving her one way or another.
There is excitment and heartache ahead...

Next week's promos are for Zorro/Zara(thustra), and his roving coalition.
And Rocket Dog is not so incompetent since she sensed her sister's group was too close to her own, and took action. How perceptions can change from week to week.

I loved this episode. Rocket Dog took care of business. She gave both Sophie and the Aztecs the boot! I felt bad for them both, but that's what happens when you're caught in the cross-hairs of a pregnant DF!

Ditto lexie_kat and dmoo, on the choice of words I think it is just a matter of writing without a conscious effort to watch each and every phrase; that would be almost impossible. In a normal conversation it would be called "foot in mouth". Tejascat2, love the name; you mentioned watching MM on Comcast "On Demand. Is that to say MM is available in that venue? Further, you mentioned Bill Nighy (sp?) as the narrator; I wonder how can that be since the UK won't see this until after we do. Now to episode four..a very good episode with all the things we love. I believe Sophie will be just fine once she "gets her paws under her". Maybe this will help, it has be documented that female "kats" evicted from their families have survived as long as 13 months!! Chin up and have faith Sophie will fine her "man".

hi whttailtx46-- i agree they probably can't catch everything, but that one about RD was very obvious. it's hard to believe no one caught it but alas, they didn't. you know, they should have one or two dedicated viewers vet the script for such things. of course, those folks would have to be held to super-secret secrecy! :-) *sigh* ~lexie

I loved this episode. It was great to see Rocket Dog assert herself as the leader. It did scare me when Sophie fell out of the tree, I'am so glad she wasnt serioulsy injured. It was hard to see her run off. Sadly thats what happens to the other females when they get a certain age. Unless they challenge the DF. I just hope she finds a safe haven. I felt bad for Maybeline too, after all that house cleaning! Cant wait for the next one.

OK, open keyboard, insert foot here. Producers, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, whoever is in charge: MEERKAT MANOR = ONE HOUR. Do you really need to have a commercial every 7 minutes????? And yes, if I were younger I WOULD have PMS!!!!
