I was surprised at Flower's warm welcome to Axle. Could it be she felt a kinship to him? As you know, Axle is the son of Houdini and Flower's new pups were also fathered by Houdini. Is it possible Axle could be in line to be the future dominant male of the Whiskers?
I think the biggest factor into Flower's nurturing for Axel was due to the fact that she just had pups; she was probably hepped up on tons of maternal instincts. ....Or, she could have just said, "Aww, how cute. ...It's mine now!" ^^ The one thing I don't get is why she picked him up and then dropped him. *shrug*
I do hope he becomes the new DM someday; no offense to Zaphod, but RD really doesn't need her father like she does a mate.
Are we sure that Axle is Punk & Houdini's son? Flower's pups by Houdini had just been born. Houdini and Punk got together quite awhile after Houdini and Flower, so going by that time frame, it's more likely that Axle is Lola & Frank's son. In any case, I'm just glad he got saved.
It was to cute for words. I was so sad thinking another pup was lost to the desert but when Mitch heard the noises and ran to Axl's side and actually picked him up in kindness and brought him to Flower for further inspection I knew deep down Flower was going to take him in as her own. He is a sweet MK pup and Flower saved him. She lost poor sweet Lenny and Squiggy and made up for it by helping little Axl. It was cute how she kept picking him up and carrying him when he was to tired to go on. Little Axl and little Lizzy might get together in the future. What do you think?
Axle is Lola and Frank's pup - their last as the dominant couple over the Zappas. So in effect, Axle would have been uncle to the pups Flower was carrying(if, indeed, there were sired by Houdini).
I thought that Axle might be Lola's pup, since she was trying to carry him during the retreat. But I am sure she is still week from the snake bite she received. I think that is the only reason that Lola dropped him, she just didn't have the energy to carry him any further. I hope he will continue to be accepted by the Whiskers.
