The episode just started - I am a bit saddened by the new opening - I think maybe they should have left Flower there for the rest of the season and changed it next season - what do you think?

I do feel sorry for Zaphod too -

All those pups -

I'm feeling a lot better than I thought I would. Poor Zaphod, he's being a typical dad.Maybelline, looked like the little old Meerkat that lived in a shoe, she had so many pups she didn't know what to do,LOL.Looked like a Meerkat nursery school.

I just hope RD has what it takes. She must have, after jockeying for position with her sisters, she came up on top after all. This den move is making me nervous.

I was so happy that they made it ok. It was really nerve racking seeing them go crazy. Jus t glad that RD pulled through for them. I do feel sorry for Zaphod he is so lost without Flower. Hopefully he will be happy again one day.

Here are my thoughts on tonights show,
1. Way to go Rocket Dog...you did it !
2. Too many comparisons to her mother. We know she isn't Flower (maybe close though).
3. Poor Zaphod...what will happen, it REALLY won't be the same if he goes.
4. Axel is lookin' good !
5. What happened to the squirrel we were suppose to see tonight ???

Anyway, I think it was a great episode and finally a relief from all of the heartache. Good night everyone and God Bless.

RIP Flower...The show goes on but not like it used to !

Zaphod looked out of sorts.Without his beloved Flower he looks a little....lost.I feel sorry for him.I hope he doesn't have to leave. His daughter needs him still.Glad to see Axle is ok.But what of Liz Flower pup?.

Loved the way Sophie(Mozarts' daughter) and Rocketdog worked as a team to get rid of Punk.

Mitch and McMurphy (Toscas'son)got all over Houdini. I still felt very sad when sean mentioned Flowers' name,of course it didn't help I watched "Journeys'End" b4 this show.
Keep it up Rocket Dog.Live up to your mother legacy.

Ironically, even though it would be better for Rocketdog if Zaphod left the group, he was the one that got the burrow move back on track. Those pups looked so young! I'm glad no one was lost along the way.

My top ten thoughts of the episode:

1.) ZOMG THEY CHANGED THE TITLE!!! Never before has this happened, but then none of the main title characters have died mid-season before either. It makes me wonder what the roster will be like by this season's end... Gotta admit though, RD looks good in the collar. ^^

2.) *counts pups* One, two, three, four, five, eighteen... Dang! They're all so crowded in that little hole... But wait, where's "Liz!?"

3.) Poor ol' Zaphod. He seems unsure of what to do with himself, doesn't he? And chasing off a potential mate for Rocket Dog wasn't exactly a good thing. Although, I can see him being just as overprotective of his daughters as he was with Flower. I can hear him now as he chases off the rover: "If anything happens to my daughter, I got a shotgun and a shovel! I doubt anybody would miss you!" ...Oh, wait. That was "Clueless."

4.) Den move = Youssarian mishap sequel??? Stupid Maybelline! >.<

5.) YAY! Pookie, Spud, McMurphy and Jogu ALL got mentioned!!! ...And there was a new name. I forget what it was!

6.) New home looks good. New watering hole looks good. Meerkats falling into water = awesome.

7.) Are you sure that's the Zappa coming? At this point it could be anybody. I liked how Axel just laid there thinking everything was okay. Cute little guy.

8.) "It's fight, or flight... She chooses flight." D'OH!!! *pictures Flower looking down from Heaven, shaking her head in shame*

9.) Okay, NOW we fight! And it seems that Sophie and Spud are okay, which must mean Flower's last litter is around here somewhere. At five weeks old, they'd be pretty big. Big enough to help win the battle, perhaps?

10.) ......So...... Where's the menacing ground squirrel we were promised? o.O

I was actually a little disappointed. I thought that they would have shown a little more of how the group reacted after the lost of Flower. I am glad to see that Rocket Dog had her wits about her when they were conforted with the Zappa. I am glad to see that they worked together as a group!

I'm in love with Zaphod! Flower would have been so proud to know that he stayed to make sure the family was OK. My heart just melted the way he tried to help "Rocket" with the den move. I just wish Zaphod could stay and still allow his daughter to find a mate and male dominant for the group. It was beautiful to see Zaphod with the grandbabies!!

I feel encouraged that the Whiskers family will be ok. I was so excited to see Mitch and McMurphy take down Houdini and "Rocket" and Sophie take care of Punk. Flower will never die, she lives on through her beautiful, courageous, and brave offspring!

Good evening to all in the Manor. I was afraid to watch tonight, I just got to the point that I can look at Flower's pictures without tearing up. But when Rocket Dog turned to fight, I cheered out loud. Maybe she knows she has some big pawprints to fill, but she is her mother's daughter after all! Wink

I thought the references to Flower were enough - but I also had the feeling this was a few weeks after F's death so some other battles were sorted out.

where is the squirrel - we need the comic relief!

Go, Rocket Dog, and don't be afraid!!!

Where the heck is that ground squirrel? Anyway, yay! A watering whole! A new meerkat! His name was Lary, wasn't it? Sophie and Spud are okay, and we got to see Cruise! I LOVE AXEL!!! He reminds me soooo much of Attila!!! I'd like to see Attila again too. I hope Zaphod doesn't get kicked out permanantly...

GO ROCKETDOG!!!!!!!!!
Got a little scared with the den move. But Zaphod to the rescue. It made me sad to see him babysitting all alone. He seems very sad and unsure of himself.Isn't he old for a meerkat??
Where was Liz and other pups???

Well, Zaphod is old, but he's still useful! Also, they said that together Daisy and Maybelline had 7 pups, and I heard someone say that they saw eight pups total, so I guess that means that only Liz made it out. Frown Well, at least Sophie and Spud are okay.

They did say that Flower had been gone 5 weeks and that the pups were born 2 weeks ago, so that's why they were so small. If I heard correctly (and I hope I did), on Journey's End when the Zappa were coming toward the Whiskers, Sean said that since Punk and Houdini had been together, the group had increased in size and that they brought THEIR pups along, so that kind of states that Axl and his siblings were Punk and Houdini's not Frank and Lola's. I too, felt sorry for Zaphod. He looked like he was lost, but still had the skill to help with the move. He would be a great granddad and it would be nice to see him stay. Also, about the beginning - I, too, missed Flower, but thought that they would change it. They have changed the title a couple times - at least after Shakespeare and Tosca went missing. Also, now they don't have Youssarian anymore.

I am soooooooooooooo HAPPY no one left the manor this week. My heart goes out to Zaphod, he looked so sad babysitting by himself. Axel is just so adorable, I see him as a future Casanova of the Kalahari. I think Rocketdog will in time be a leader like her mom. I'm glad she didn't back down the second time, you go girl!. Happy to see Sophie and Spud.

I was definitely torn and having some painful flashbacks watching tonite's new episode of MM. Yet I must say I am happy to see the Whiskers successfully transitioning. That move was definitely stressful and ironically made me think back to Zaphod's ill-fated attempt at moving the group while Flower was gone. (Not sure exactly which episode that was I believe it happened early last season.) It's sooo sad seeing him on his own within the group and trying to fit in where he can. Where will he go now?? Whose going to hold things together now if he's not there??!! I am very happy they made a successful move though!! Smile
(On a sidenote, I have begun to wonder whether or not RocketDog is a great name for a Female meerkat?!?? Ah well guess I'll have to get used to it.)

I love Axel also but am afraid to get to close after the year we have going.
I am glad they took Flower off the opening. After all if they left her on we would be reminded every week. Not that we will ever forget.
But, Rocket Dog should be given the chance now to lead the Whiskers. So much for her to learn in such a short time. She did a pretty good job tonight, after a very shakey start. With each new experience she will learn the ways of survival. With such a heavy load and such big paws to fill, she should be given star status.
My heart breaks for Zaphod. I have always loved him. What will ever become of him? If he leaves the Whiskers will we ever see him again? =^..^=

Things do feel different.

10. they changed the intro? The don Jaun of the desert will always be Carlos. Frown

9. They still have Zaphod as flowers partner?

8. "Ouch! move your paw! you're laying on my tail!" XD too many Meerkats! and lotsa pups too!

7. Itchy Meerkats! *takes each one and gives it a good bath* ^_^

6.The den move has collapsed and there's pups all over! Come on Rocket dog, I have faith in you

5. Poor Zaphod is demoted to pup-sitter Frown Has his fame died too?

4. LOL! Jogu went sploosh!

3. Come on Rocket dog, don't run away. you can do it! Yesssssssss! success! a brilliant tactic and another victory for the whiskers!

2. Zaphod runs into an old adversary? I wonder who that could be?

1. No ground squirrel?? He must have chickened out when he saw that dangerous glint in the Meerkats eye =P

All in all a trying test of Rocket Dogs leadership. She faltered a little, but came through. With a little experience she may become as great and noble a leader as her dear mother.

Well, I'm a mess about Zaphod. Poor little thing.
His expression of loss, his isolation, his 'temporary' job of baby-sitting.........., his constant looking around, searching, searching.....
his whole life has been so utterly devastated by his partner's untimely death,
and I just feel so SORRY for him.
I hope he finds someone soon.
He's a good boy.

I still miss Flower, but at least Rocket Dog started out well(after the tough start on the den move). I can believe she is truly Flower's daughter after this episode. However, I do not like the insinuation that Flower did not make mistakes too. I am sure she did at some point, but she learned, and so will Rocket Dog.

I wish Zaphod could stay with them too, but Rocket Dog needs an unrelated DM to mate. Unfortunately, this means Zaphod will eventually have to leave. I feel sorry for him. Of all the Whiskers, he misses Flower the most, and seems a bit lost and dazed still. Hopefully, he will soon be happy again.

It seems the Whiskers are off to a good start without their best DF, Flower. I seem to have missed seeing the ground squirrel though. Did he move out of burrow when Whiskers appeared? Smile

I miss Flower. She was an inspiration to us all. She was a beautiful creature. Rocketdog scared me for a second when she ran away from the Zappa... but when they decided to fight they really did a good job of warding them off. I love the Meerkats, especially the Whiskers. i hope to see them every Friday night for years to come.

GO ROCKETDOG!!!!!! MAKE FLOWER PROUD!!!!!

I'm not sure what to say about this week, wow! I think with a week to process Flower's death and watching that episode again, I felt more sad than last week. I was crying inside!
I am impressed with how Rocketdog handled the fight. Axel also looks great. He's getting so big.
If it wasn't for Flower's line I'd say I wish Zaphod would get a new female to be leader of the group.
Also, how old is Zaphod? He's looking like he's getting on in years..

Tonights ep was a good refreshing break from all the death and heartbreak thats been around all season long. I'm glad they finally get their own watering hole again, does this mean the turtles will show up again?

Poor Zaphod tho, it will be better for the group if he left, but then again his experience is beyond most of the others. I would hate to see him run off, and I always loved seeing him cause hes so huge and easy to spot.

And I loved the burrow cams showing the crowded spaces in there, I could see the look on some of the faces of "wtf get off me!" It looked like a really fuzzy version of Tetris.

Now lets see if we can go two episodes without any death! Big Grin

All in all a good begining, wasn't it?

I predict that the next Kalahari Kasanova is going to be...

I found out that in this forum only a mod can start a thread. That's cool, keeps us all in one thread instead of a zillion started!

I loved this episode. Shades of the old days....no deaths and nothing really bad happened. Rocket Dog has a backbone! Poor Zaphod.....(I'm not thrilled with the new commercial about a roaving male looking for tail......that's just not our dear Zaphods image! Even though he is still a very attractive man. Gray around the edges makes one "distinguished" you know.) All of those healthy looking pups, wonderful. And Axl....I'm in love. He is looking so good, and I just loved seeing him with on guard with Mitch. Although he does have alot to learn...."Axl dear, we do let the family know when the enemy is on the horizon".

And where WAS that pesky squirrel????

Newman....happy that she could smile this week

Wow intro was awkward the guy who does it sounded a bit robotish about it.

Wow its a ball of whiskers.

Ah so many pups all over the place what a mess.

Nice swan dive I give it a ten.

Zaphod what a dedicated daddy so lost without her. He truly loved flower and his family.

Axel is so cute hope Mitch rubs off on him such a sensitive guy that Mitch.

Oh no trouble congratulation's on your victory Rocket I now respect you and I can not wait to see your rein. Mother should be proud!

Ok should we like sue animal planet for false advertisement because the commercial of this ground squirl showdown drove me nuts but none were even mentioned in this episode did I miss something.

I have just started watching MM mid season #3. Am totally addicted! Can someone please tell me approx how old Rocketdog is? For someone who is pretty "new" to the series, I find Rocketdog too passive/indecisive. Hopefully, things will change for her as she gets some experience under her paw.
As for the squirrel: doesn't the squirrel represent the Zappa - the Whiskers #1 enemy?

Yo

Ah Rocket Dog is a chip off her old ma and pa's shoulder (Flower and Yossarian in case you didn't know). Remember the chaotic burrow moves of her dad, Yoyo.

Um Rocket was born Dec. 6, 2003 along with Kinkaju, Super Furry Animal (Daisy) and Ragga Muffin. All are gone but the mighty Rocket.

Hello Fellow MM pals,

I said I couldn't watch because I have had a hard time dealing with all the deaths. I could not stay away. I had to read what you guys thought first. I watched at 11:30. It was kinda uplifting in a way. It seems more like the first season. It was like starting over. I guess that is good. That's what I am telling myself anyway. I will cheer on RD just like I did Flower. Even though I thought she could be mean sometimes. I hope RD has it in her to stand her ground against the other groups and her own group. GO RD. Go Zaphod, I'm cheering for you. I too noticed that they didn't show the squirrel. I kinda think they changed things around so it would be more light-hearted. Anyway, GREAT EPISODE.

Pronker - you don't seem to be on here as much - but I knew you would get to the bottom of the Daisy issue - so Yossie and Flower are her dad - didn't know Kink and Daisy were the same litter - always thought Daisy was a bit older - did we ever meet Ragga Muffin?

I do feel bad for Zaphod but I really think he seemed proud to be babysitting - I don't know - just looked that way to me - and good thing he helped Rocket Dog out - it seemed to give her some confidence too -

Axle was so cute just laying there not knowing what to do - I am sure Mitch will show him the way - and Zaphod has been around a while too to show him the way

Glad to hear a few more names tonight - all in all a nice episode after and most likely before - some more sadness -

Top Ten Thoughts on Episode 9

Now posted here....we can 't start a thread anymore...

10) New start to the show without Flower.. Frown
A little too quick for my taste, but they did identify everyone and their relationship to her, so that's positive...

9) RD wins dominance over her sisters...I believe, and hope this is a good thing....but 7 pups all at once!!! YIKES...she will have her work cut out for her...

8) My heart breaks for Zaphod. He is trying to retain his DM status by putting in extra work and being extra dilligent. He does not even mind giving up his mating rights. Frown And he is watching out for rovers. He knows he can't mate with RD, but he doesn't want anyone messing with his little girl! Smile

7) Too many bugs....too crowded...getting dangerous for disease. RD showing initiative, planning a burrow move, however dangerous it may be. She is also being careful to scent mark all of the pups; another good sign. I'm getting very NERVOUS, though. Please, God, let this go well...

6) It's not going well!! Maybelline doen't want to move the pups!! Oh no...everyone is dropping their pup...this is NOT good. Reminders of Youssarian's burrow moves... Frown

5) Zaphod is watching...he tries to help her...
Mabelline is very stubborn, but in the end, he gets them all together. I'm still holding my breath...this isn't over, but they arrive at their new digs, and Mitch...(of course) goes underground to make sure all is safe, and it is... All is well, and I will breathe again. Pups back underground and safe.

4) New watering hole, good sign. Plentiful eats, another good sign. Zaphod not around, maybe mating possibilities...another good sign....The Zappa...NOT a good sign. Baby Axle growing and healthy, looking up to Mitch; he picked an AWESOME role model. Mitch looking the wrong way, but Axle staring right at his former family. Still a baby.

3) Will RD lead her family into battle? Zaphod not around to help her confidence. She decides to flee.....Her Mom is probably grimacing right now. The Zappa not giving up....another chance to stand up to them...will she take it?? She does!!! Good girl!! Making Flower proud...

2) Zaphod is babysitting. Although the pups could not be in better paws, I feel terrible for him. He is lost without his Flower, and he doesn't want to leave his family. Frown
The sight of him just sitting there all day is a weird one, but more than that, it is a sad one. Having trouble with this. Frown Frown

1) RD showing a lot of promise. Yes, she needs more experience, but she is on the right track. I am proud of her. And I cannot wrap up my Top 10 without saying this....although I love all of the meerkats, and would not miss the show for anything, I can't help feeling a deep sadness watching without Flower, and knowing she's not coming back. Something is missing, and it's just not the same. I hope this feeling gets less, and I guess it's just too soon, but I feel I have a hole in my heart. Frown

no one bothered to post why the burrow move went crazy. This was a show that may offer possible hints to come. Maybelline was teh cause that the burrow move didnt go as planned if she would have helped instead of show her diffiance than it would have been ok. Poor Zaphod is all i can say.....

NEXT SEASONS SHAKES/MITCH could it be axel? seems they are leaning towards that in this episode
