9. Pups named after Guns N Roses. Funny. So there were two Roses we’ve met (Wasn’t there a Rose in the Basil litter too?). It’s all good.

8. Loved Flower joining in on the fun. As rough as the dry season was, it was great seeing them kick back and live the good life. They didn’t have a care in the world. The men quit doing chores. Hey fellas, you’re making us look bad over here!!!

7. Astin is officially obsessed with the Kalahari Menu. To refer to Axel as tasty in the eyes of the Eagle/Owl as tasty is telling me a little bit more than we need to know. BUT, at that exact point I had a feeling he’d be ok somehow (I thought he’d make it home by luck). That’s not Astin’s style.

6. Mitch with the save (again)! Reminds me of Shakes, which is the best part of this show. Even though we lose some, they live on. I hope Mitch spares this pup. He does! This little Axel guy has no idea how lucky he is. This is a great story. They should call this episode Adopted. Would have been if it wasn’t for that darn Cobra as we went on to find out..

5. Meerkats can pick up a Cobra’s scent? Too bad Sophie and Spud couldn’t get to him first.

4. Will Flower be the first one down there? I would think the DM would.

3. So sad to see Flower post bite. Almost like Carlos as his wound got worse.

2. We have Liz. Any others? Unbelievable. I don’t know if I want a season 4. Can’t believe Flower is gone. What now? And special thanks to AP. Not knowing ahead of time would have had this Forum in FULL MELTDOWN MODE. Like sports boards after a bad loss times ten!!!!

1. Using the number one spot here as a time to reflect. Without Flower, there would be no Whiskers as we know. Look at the personalities she’s left behind. May they all live with her best traits to guide them through a tough place to survive and prosper. Good luck Whiskers, we’re all pulling for you. Group cuddle for the Queen!

About the pup named Liz: On the live chat they said they named the pup Liz in honor of Elizabeth Taylor, who is a big fan of Meerkat Manor.

Things are definately harder to talk about this week... but i did find a few things really great in this episode.

Einstein was getting buried in the sand XD

and Mitch going and saving the little pup, axel, whom was certainly doomed otherwise.

Though it made me hold my breath when Flower made the big decision, and let him live. what a beautiful act.

Thanks for your reflections chi. It really will never be the same.

And like someone said, if Flower didn't die , this would have been my favorite episode. It had compassion (Axel), bravery (Flower and the bad snake), comedy (Flower rolling around), confusion (Mitch, what do I do with a pup?)
Going to watch again tonight and log on when the servers are less busy.

I agree with melby. BTW, AP did it again!! Another Mitch stand in! The meerkat resuing Axel was Einstein, Mitch's brother!

Here are some of my top thoughts.

1. Again they use Mitch's name for a meerkat that's not him. It was Einstein who saved Axel.

2. WOW! Flower adopted an enemy pup!

3. How come they carried Axel around, but they couldn't carry Squiggy?

4. Flower is so brave, saving her babies from certain doom.

5. The last pups Flower ever had, were fathered by Houdini. And her last pups with Zaphod both died. It makes me sad to think about.

6. Flower looked like she was in so much pain, with her face all swollen up.

7. Where were the Whiskers? Did Flower die all alone?

8. Flower died a hero. She will be remembered always.

RIP Flower "The Iron Lady", "The Queen of the Kalahari" You will always be remembered. By your fans, your family, and even your enemies.

Thank you, Brother Carlos, for another wonderful summing up. There were seemingly hundreds in the livechat, and Mick K. answered as though we had never seen any UK spoilers. Rather frustrating. And a lot of questions were very, very basic. But I for one am grateful to AP for the opportunity.

They left Squiggy because during that time they were going through a terrible situation. Flower and half of the group was gone, food was next to non-exsistant, and Rocket Dog (who was thrusted into DF status) was inexperienced and had problems of her own with the family and her new found status. They were ALL starving and just in horrid conditions. The tide had turned with the rain and the return of Flower and the rest on the clan. But in my opinion.... I don't think Flower would have EVER left ANY of her babies!! No matter WHAT they were going through.

This saddens me even more if possible. I thought the meerkats stayed with their stricken mob members. I read on another post it took her 48 hours to die. Where were the Whiskers, Zaphod? Do you suppose no one even knew and then came across her body? Oh I hope not.

I heard somewhere that when some animals know that they are dying, they go off and die by themselves. I think Carlos did this and now Flower too. I wish that they had not shown her swollen face. It was heartbreaking. Showing her in that little hole was bad enough. Mozart stayed with Carlos at first but they later showed him all alone. I need to try and think of how much Flower did and not dwell on that image of her. That was not my Flower. There are so many great things being said about her. So wonderful.

Sorry posting my 10 so late...it's taken me time to get myself and my thoughts together..

10) Strong Flower just gives birth, and is the first one ready to go and start the day...Sophie babysitting again...good choice..

9) Eating is so plentiful, I feel so much better than last week..Flower is actually PLAYFIGHTING!!!! I've never seen that before..so awesome to see her carefree if just for a moment...

8) Uh oh....the Zappa....and they brought the babies...they are NERVY....and of course, Flower is the one who sees them first..AGAIN..I ask the same question as last week....WHERE IS SLACKER ZAPHOD??? Totally not doing his job..

7) Zappa running away.. so Houdini is smarter than we thought..he knows he is better off making love to Flower than to be fighting her... Lola trying to carry the pup as she runs away...she can't do it...

6) OH NO!! Poor Axle...he is left all alone in enemy territory..with a snake and birds everywhere...Mitch hears his cries...look at him...he's confused!!!! Mitch doesn't know what to do...he knows this baby doesn't smell right, but it's still a baby, and he knows his job is to protect it!! But that smell..!!..uhhhh he thinks.."I better get out of here"..but "wait...
the baby is following me!!! Now what am I going to do???" "Oh, man...I have to take care of it..it's in my nature..I know...I'll bring to Mom...she'll know what to do.." Mitch to me, is really stepping up to Shakespeare status..I believe his actions this week have pushed him a little further to this coveted position.

5) He brings the baby right to Flower...bypasses everyone else to show Flower.
She is the boss, after all. She thinks for a moment....and that's all. Axle has a new family, just like that. Flower's compassion today knows no boundaries. This innocent pup just won the lottery. To be welcomed into the coveted Whiskers clan. And by the Queen of the Kalahari herself.

4) The snake Please leave it alone guys..I beg you...Okay..Mitch bit it's tail..it's moving along..BUT IT'S GOING INTO THE BURROW!!

3) Flower carrying Axle to get him to his new home so he can rest...poor baby had a rough day..she needs to get back to the pups...

This was such a wonderful day for the Whiskers, and the fact that it ended so tragically is incomprehensible. Flower, your last days showed us all of your stellar qualities. We even got to see you play!! Sweet girl, may you rest in eternal sunshine with a myriad of food, drink, shelter, pups and family to keep you company. Not only are you a hero to your family, but you are a hero to us, your forever fans. We love you always.

Well said. And by the way, I'm with christopher. The swollen face even hit me hard. I honestly can't see how the show can go on, but obviously it has. We'll see!
