i am new and going to be having a breast reduction & lift in a month & 1/2. now that surgery nears, i am getting nervous about the pain and/or sickness just after waking up after the surgery. what was your experience immediatly post-op? i hope for the most part it was pleasant. i am very afraid of waking up puking!! yuk
look you will not feel pain after the surgery or the next day or the day after but you are going to feel like you can't move but you will get over that fast . but one thing i tell everyone is please tell the doctor to put the drains in no matter what they think i didn't get them and one breast did need it
I had a breast reduction done on 8/12/04. When I awoke in recovery, I was not at all sick, just very, very uncomfortable. For me it was uncomfortable to be laying down on my back with the drainage tubes in my sides. I suppose my back was hurting a lot b/c I do not sleep on my back, but was forced to for 6 hours straight! Also, since I was intibated, my throat hurt for about 2 days. It was soar and I felt like I had to cough "something" up, but couldn't. Very weird!
I can honestly say that I did not experience much, if any, real pain immediately after the surgery nor during recovery (I am now 6 weeks post-op). My surgery was performed on a Wednesday and my drainage tubes were removed that Friday. I can tell you I felt 110% better once those drains were removed. Again, there was not any pain (they give you more than enough medicine to take care of that), it was just discomfort with them in.
I hope this helps and I wish you a safe surgery and a speedy recovery. Please remember that everyone is different though and one person's experience may prove different from your own.
I had absolutely no pain, or discomfort.I also had no reaction to the anesthesia. I spent the night in the hospital with excellent care and monitoring. The drains were taken out the next morning and I have been a happy camper ever since The Best of Luck You'll love it!
I had my BR 3 weeks ago and felt no pain when I woke up. You'll be drugged up with pain relief so don't worry. I had more morphine when in recovery but was sick straight after. But that was just me I think as not everyone can take it. I was given tablets when back in the ward. You'll just feel uncomfortable, It's not pain that you'll be crying or getting stressed over. I found the emotional side of it harder to deal with. Everyone's different I suppose but you shouldn't worry about waking up in agony as that was my main worry but it's fine. You'll be well looked after. The thought of getting the drains removed can be quite daunting also but it isn't painful at all. It just feels a bit funny. Just make sure you ask lots of questions about looking after your wounds when you get home, when you can shower, change dressings e.t.c. I didn't get any aftercare support at all. I live in Scotland so you might get better care where you live. You'll be fine and keep thinking about why you want this and how long you've wanted this. All the best xxx
