i would like to know why only some get sick from silicone in the implants? does it have to do with the silicone or is just the fact that it is a individuals response to a foreign body? i want implants and i was told saline is safe despite its silicone shell. i just want someone to clarify this for me because it is all so confusing.

I just found this website and joined because I want to get involved in answering some questions that a lot of women have about breast implants. I'll write more when I have more time but I saw your question and I wanted to tell you DON'T GET ANY KIND OF BREAST IMPLANTS! None of them are safe and the risks to your long-term, and sometimes short-term, health are NOT worth it. Check out some of the support groups for women who've had problems with both saline and silicone implants....Silicone Holocaust, Saline Support (a Yahoo group), Implant Info Net(an ezboard group), Toxic Discovery, etc., etc. Just don't do it!

Smile Hello, tayta I had silicone implants since may 2005 . I have not been sick at all. I live here in Ohio. I choose to have the silicone under the muscle. Did not want saline due to the fact of rippling etc.. I'm 41 now. I due love them and so does my husband. I'm 500 cc's on both sides. It took me about 15 yrs to decide. It's your choice. I did alot of research. Take care. sunshinemist.

Hi Tatya, I am with sunshinemist. I had a lift and augmentation with silicone implants back in 2004. It took me 4 years to decide. I do NOT regret them at all. I am 34 now and I have NOT been sick and nothing leaks. I have not had any infection. I did research both saline and silicone and the media is very good at scaring people. I found that Saline is just as potentially problematic as silcione implants. I chose the silicone for the natural look and feel. My husband love them too and he says that they do feel like the real thing. The one thing to stress is to research your doctor thoroughly. Your research will pay off. Get informed. Good Luck!
