what has happened to pinnacle armor? I get out and try to look up the stuff and its like its gone. their website is shut down, 1-800 number disconnected, local number just rings without answer. I've dug through mounds of data on multiple websites and heard they acquired nij and lost it read the reports from soldiers for the truth and could easily believe the test to be conducted in the manner described and found out that these army officers who claimed that sov-2000 was not able to stop the required rounds before they even tested it retired and started employment at interceptor. I guess what I'm saying is what little coverage I've been able to find on this aside what is pinnacle armors current status?
The last I heard the president of Pinnacle was under indictment for fraud. Something about how he was advertising the SOV 2000 as a level III vest and the SOV 3000 as a Level IV even though both vests failed the NIJ testing standards.
The whole thing about the Army saying it wouldn't stop the required rounds before it was tested was because the SOV-2000 was billed as Level III, and the interceptor is a proven Level IV.
Because it ended up failing NIJ testing, the Military decided to not even look at it further. That is not until political and public outcry forced them to. It then failed the Army's durability testing.
Please remember that the NIJ is separate from the military, and contrary to popular belief. They get paid the same amount regardless of what passes and what fails.
