Police departments. have been incorporating the use of Tasers into their arsennal for quite so time now. I applaud this as it gives officers a means to subdue violent subjects with having to resort to deadly force. But during cold weather, individuals put on more clothing which may reduce the effectiveness of the Taser. A situation may develop, where the Taser's effectivenss is reduced enough to allow a suspect to close with the officer. This puts the officer at risk, because not have as many clothes on, he or she would recieve more of the shock transmitted through the suspect. This might render him or her unable to maintain control of their firearm. Therefore a strategy to protect against this might be to train officers to postiion themselves that they are behind the subject or on their flank before using the Taser. This would limit the ability of the subject to mount a frontal assault and endanger the officer should the Taser prove ineffective. I hope that someone has already thought of this and I appear foolish by repeating old advice. But I would rather risk that, then the possibility that a police officer might be hurt or worse because of ego.
Since the military is also using Tasers, I wish to ask another question.
If a suspect or enemy while being Tasered, used his hands to grab the head of the officer or soldier, would this induce seizure because of the electrical discharge's proximity to the brain. An example being Electroshock Therapy.
