The classic stylings of the 40s coupes are becoming more popular as the original metal bodies of the 30's are disappearing to other costomizers, elements or the worst a crusher. The ultimate sleeper Hot rod platform is the 1940 Plymouth Roadking. It is a rare car to survive the time, to see one in driving restored condition is rare, but one that is modified and customized in the vain of big 22's, 426 Hemi, and up dated electronics and interior creature comforts is all the more rare. I have one and have another project driver for sale, pictures available. The car would make a great show build up vehicle to show the build up process from beginning to end. gunnar357@yahoo.com

I know that the real hot rods are from the early years but they are getting hard to come buy especially in the rust belt here in Illinois,I am from the muscle car days of the 60's and 70's so that is what I restore,I currently own and enjoy a med blue with white stripe 70 chevelle ss,454 ls-6,500 hp,I installed a new 2004r overdrive trans with lockup torque converter,2400 stall convertor and 3;73 gears, black bucket interior, crager ss wheels with bf goodrich ta tires, this car has a stance like the 70's,not the slammed look of the now popular pro touring cars, which is fine for some but not for me! I am also in the finishing stages of rebuilding a 69 camaro ss,paint is ppg black with daytona yellow z stripes, yellow houndtooth interior, dakota digital dash,355 small block wich dyno's at 420 hp and 411 ft.lb torque,350 trans and 3:73 gears, torque thrust wheels with bf goodrich ta radials.I brought this car back from the grave, new quarters, fenders, doors, rear tail pan, trunk bottom all new floors including toe boards, also had to rebuild top of dash from the factory seam and including the top of the dash, also had to replace all the top of the window channels that meet the roof, this car was really gone and am proud to be able to save it,but it has been 3 years of hard work but very gratifying!Everyone who enjoys old cars should try it,especially when you do one yourself and get it back on the road, the feeling can't be beat when you get all thumbs up and the wonderful comments at the cruise nights and the car shows, lots of fun!!!!!!!!!

Guess you could call me a Ford guy. Daily driver is a '03 F150 King Ranch Super Crew.
Last fall I got the '58 Thunderbird back on the road. Pretty much a complete resto back to factory, right down to the pink and white paint job. Yes, it is pink, from the factory. (It is really the wife's car, I just do all the work.)
Right now I am putting together a '67 Mustang coupe. Ford crate GT40 5.0 motor, T5, Total Control rack & pinion unit, four wheel discs, lots of other mods. Hope to have it on the road by summer.
When the '67 is finished I will get back to my '65 Mustang Fastback. It started life as a bronze 6 cylinder but got abused. I have it stripped to the bone hanging on a rotisserie sitting in storage. Poor thing got interrupted by a certain Thunderbird for the wife!

Hey all, I hope everybody saw the premier tonight, I was especially excited to see what Ford is doing. I'm definitely not choosing sides between Ford and Chevy, but I definitely think Ford is heading in a better direction.
Anyways, my ride... I bought the 95 V8 Mustang almost two years ago and have been modifying it ever since. It's not all show, it definitely has go too! Check out this website to see me participating in a SCCA Solo2 event... www.whydrive55.com click on the "Ken's Run" link to watch the movie (I hope you have a good internet connection). I've spent plenty of time and resources on it and am very proud to say that I've done all the work my self. Check it out! I've also got some pictures of it if you're interested.
Email me if you'd like... kwwheele@mtu.edu
I've enjoyed reading about all of your rides, keep 'em coming!

Hope to see you at Woodward this year.
My rides are just a bit off center.
Not bothering with the go to work stuff but my toys are a pair.
One a 91 Lotus Elan. Beatiful shape, fascinating engineering, tremendous flop in the showroom. People like me that bought when they were a couple years old got a heck of deal. So what if it can't smoke the tires, it just hooks up and goes.
Then theres my stupidity special. A don't know what year Lomax. This "car" proves that anything is available on E-Bay. How much I paid and why is not the issue. But you may ask "what is a Lomax"? A Lomax is a replica loosely based upon the three wheeled Morgans from England. It is powered by a two cylinder Citreon 2CV engine, built off a lightly modified 2CV floor pan. This "car" is truly a POS. But there is nothing quite like the memories it has generated.
