66 Corvair body but a Can-Am Group 7 underneath to make all my dreams realaized( can't afford to buy one cause I would have to live in it

). Tube frame from "A" Sports Racer, 1000 HP auto trans, full roll cage, that is when I can get it done and get help with F1 style push rod suspention units. I thought it was time to build a near copy of the Can-Am but street legal. All under skin ( just skin deep here ) = racer, serious set up with all the fixings.
So far I have aquired most of the rolling parts. SeeYahoo or Webshots, pictures, search for CorV8tor to see on line photos. Then you can see the start of an immense effort on my part to design and build this amazing ride.
I have Willwood 12" X 1.25" Ft discs to be mounted. 18" X 13" wide Rr rims ( 3 piecers EH ! )18 X 12" Ft rims, power rack, went to Sweden to get it layed out by an engineer type friend. Suspention unites are going to be air ride 9000 2 way ajustables, narrow unites. Also air jacks have been recently aquired to lift the car when I have any road side troubles.

Being hit head on by drunk driver definetly requires any assistance so I have to build in my own assistant). Side mount gas tanks W/ bladers & fuel cell materials to be built too. Maybe a travel tank too?
TOO much fun. I have spent a lot of time on the paper and still paper drawings continue today. Getting it right the first time is not over rated.
I had a Crower/Kinsler 8 stacker 2 1/2" throats but it was sugested toooo livly even with EFI so it was traded for a smaller 2 3/16 unit. Should be hear soon. To bad it takes me 3 weeks to do 3 hours labour. Head injuries makes it hard to get it right the first time.
Concentration escapes me a lot. BUT I forge onward.

After MC raciong since 1967 to 1991 work took me away from racing that I love so much. With an RG 500 Suzuki 4 cylinder 2 stroke modified was the nearest I could afford at that time to a real factery GP 500 2 stroke and what a handler it was after only minor modifications. Goota seller though so I am looking forward to Patti and I touring around in the CorV8tor now. USA Power Tours and such
Been working on it from hospital time out after 1999 to date with bated antisipation. Every time I explain it to the guys they all brake out in the swets.
Basicaly I don't have enough engineering friends to help me out here. Also like most of you out there we are Sudo-Engineers ( know just enough to get us into really hot water a lot of the times )

This isn't going to be a bolt on rod...no no. All custom made.It is going to tkae some time as there isn't any factery team building this one off CorV8tor but then again it may be used with hostility on the very occational track day events.

There once was a famous Corvair that in 1974 to 79 that actualy beat every one in it's class all but the first race. It was drivn by Frank Gardener in Austrailia. Coravir body , sure, buy a Formula 5000 Lola under it's skin. It seams I am heading in it direction. Finding out any info about this car is difficult at best. Finding frienly help is more than just difficult too

At the V8Viars 006 chapter of Coravirs the John Players Corvair placed 6th in the first race as he wasn't allowed to dice with any one. Started last of about a 40 + field any way. From then on it was first every year.( sorry about spelling )And every race save 3 DNFs along the way I believe.
My target wieght is 2300 LB, AC/heat but only 2 seats, 2 or 3 fuel tanks, air compressers on board for air shock and air jack feedings.
The auto trans is being made by another 006 V8Vair memeber, Archibald Evens

. with quick change gears out back it will be over built to last.
The Rr upright bearings are about the same size as a 1 ton truck

They will last.
1 3/4" tubed frame + 2 on board fire supression unites, 5 point harnesses, Sfaty Harnesses for head - arm - legs will be safer than any thing you can buy off the show room floor. Except a Mack Dump Truck 10 tonner filled with gravel and a pointy snow plow affair thingty out front ...

hit me head on then bosose!
The Ft & Rr trunk lids are going to be carbon fiber.

A fiber glass aero hood scoop will be mounted on top of the roof above the motor in the middle of the car. It will also be slightly Rr ward and feed the motor ram air. Side pods cut into the doors leading the air into the motor compartment where mid mounted dual radiaters are mounted. Further internal air managment air ducting will be installed. Contimplation of a dry sump system is being considered. Also 180 dergree heads with a cross over after the collecters in stainless. A Try "Y" set up too.
SO many things I will try and up date later.
If you don't have a Corvair to make a hot rod then you are spending toooo much money. But if you build it like mine it would be better to just bolt stuff on like any one else does to those other cars.
I want different. I dislike main streem cause it's so boaring and common.

I get to use my immagination this time. I get to drive the bag off it too after it's commpleted. If only my fairy God Father Hot Rod Builder were near.Chip ??? Or who ever can lend and ear
