E-E-E-EW! I LIVE IN THE SAN BERNARDINO HIGH DESERT, JUST OUTSIDE OF PALM SPRINGS, CA. LAST WEEK I FOUND A HUGE TARANTULA IN MY GARAGE. MY HUSBAND CAUGHT IT AND PUT IT OUTSIDE. WE THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA NEAT. BUT LAST NIGHT, AS HE LAY IN BED, MY SON FOUND ANOTHER ONE UNDER HIS PILLOW!! WHY ARE THESE GUYS COMING RIGHT INTO THE HOUSE? HANGING OUT IN MY SON'S BED ISN'T EXACTLY "SHY" BEHAVOIR (THESE TWO DIDN'T "SCURRY OFF" ANYWHERE!) I DON'T WANT MY KIDS TO GET BITTEN OR BE FREAKED OUT ABOUT GOING TO BED AT NIGHT - ANY SUGGESTIONS TO KEEP THEM IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS WHERE THEY BELONG??
They are likely to be amorous male spiders on the look out for a girl-friend... often spiders blunder into houses and crawl into nice, cosy and dark spots so they don't dry out too much.
You folk are lucky with those tarantulas... there's nothing like that, here in New Zealand!
I live in Florida and we have creepy spiders. Ugh! I got up for work one morning, and nearly had a apoplectic fit, Ruud! Big, giant spider! Yes, I have arachnophobia. Hate spiders! This one was in the bathroom sink. I killed it. Sorry.
