Did you attach a picure of this spider?
I couldn't see anything on the message board...
Now if it looks like a black widow and is black with white spots, it may well be related to the widow, and therefore could be labeled a cobweb spider of the Family Theridiidae (also known as the comb-footed spiders)
Cheers

PS... these spiders are NOT scary!
We, humans, are scary for our ignorance about these creatures and for the fact that we have been killing them because we don't know anything about them!!!
I suppose that's the real message behind "Buggin with Ruud"

I once found a HUGE spider that was black with white spots on it. It had yellow legs and black fangs. I asked someone about it and they told me it was a species of Sun Spiders. Also i found a really small yellow spider which had black spike on its sides. I have been unable to identify this one...I was told about this one that the spikes are poisonous but i am not sure. Someone please help me to identify this spider so i can know if i need to stay away from this spider... Confused
Thanks...Elyssa

if you have questions about identifying insects or spiders, it pays to attach a picture, so we can look at these creatures...
It makes life so much easier for us entomologists!
Have fun

if it has a little fuzz on it and has a body style of a tarantula but alot smaller (like a couple of mm small) and eight eyes, and terquose blue markings by its fangs it could be a Bold Jumper, which is part of the Jumping Spider Family.

i only know this because i recently aquiered one as a pet Smile but they are harmless to humans unless we threaten them and unless you have really really bad allergies it shouldnt harm you if you get bit.

We have black spiders with white spots also. I live in TN. They look like smaller versions of a tarantula.
I was bitten by one while I was sleeping one night and had to be put on antibiotics because of the bite.

Hi Rudd, um there is a spider in my room (actually 15) and it looks like a daddy long legs but i caught one and it had 8 legs. soon after i caught it, the spider put up an egg sac. I took care of it untill the babies were born and a week later she ate them. I fed her flies and mosquitoes so what is it and why did she eat her babies? I dont have a camera but imagine a daddy long legs but with 8 legs and blackish brown. They jump and are very quick, am i in any danger of being bit?
PS: I also found a wolf spider in my bath tub. it almost bit my dad, is there a possibility of there being more??
