My daughter came SCREAMING into my room last night as she found a very scary looking spider on her blinds after a very bad rain storm.
The spider is approx 3/4 " long from fangs to tail. It is black and the body is broken into 2 seg. the bottom is much larger than the top. It has 1 white spot on its lower back and blue/tourqouis fangs. We live in Illinois if that helps.
When my husband went to kill the spider whenever he would approach it, the spider would turn to him almost in a challange. Would you have any idea what kind of spider this is and if it is dangerous. I do still have the spider if pix are needed.

sounds like a jumping spider.try doing a search for phidippus audax.there harmless so dont worry.
oh and spiders dont have tails hehe ;]
