I was going to wait until the show was finished but I have to admit I completely agree. The announcer feels like he would fit better with a documentary style show and less a casual science show like this one has been in the past. And it's not just his style of voice-overs but it's also the tone of his voice. Here's hoping you find a new announcer (or even bring back the old one if he's available...).
Cosigned. I loved the old show, but this new guy sounds like he got lost on the way to a documentary. The old narrator was much more suited to the goofy nature of the show. A serious sounding tone, inflection, and style just clashes too much with a flaming rubber-cement coated paddle ball.
I am glad I found where to post. I was EXTREMELY ANGRY when I heard this guy from the history channel announcing. HE IS AWFUL.
BRING BACK THE OLD ANNOUNCER!!! He's worth at least double the $$ of this dry old man from the history channel.
The old time-warp made physics and science fun. The new announcer sinks the show. Makes something great just plain terrible. I don't know if I can bear to watch the outright slaughter of science. It makes me angry and sad at the same time. But I may keep watching for a few more weeks, to see if Discovery channel gets some sense knocked into them by fan outrage. After that, it will be a sad death for my FAVORITE TV show of all time. (I'm a mech' engr for my day job.)
