I did find a category for this suggestion. I am a Geologist working in the Environmental Industry. This experiment is to record the motions of an earth quake.

I propose that a stiff gelatin with thin layers of gelatin at different intervals so that the side view looks a little like a Napoleon desert. In the gelatin are plates that have irregular surfaces that are their irregular surfaces pressing against each other the plates slip past each other once in the vertical, once in the horizontal and once at 45 degrees. on the surface of the gelatin are thin strings that record the motion of the surface at aerial view. Put high, low, and wide building frames and record there destruction.

Of course I leave it up to you to engineer the apparatus. I think that if done well your show can do a first in earth quake studies that can be used in Geology Classes and other seismic research.
