Yes, welcome to the boards jeff. Have fun blowing it up man :P.
I'd just like you to know that I appreciate what the time warp show is doing by taking requests though. Hard to get a fan-show relationship like that any more.

I enjoy watching the series. I have quite a bit of time doing high-speed videos of production equipment at Kodak. We used Kodak's own high-speed video system in very confined spaces. The big difference between that system ans the one you use is that the storage system was in a cart, not in the camera. That made for a smaller, but not as versatile camera. Being tethered to the cart made things a PITA at times. The cables are very heavy and in themselves get in the way. One of the projects I worked on involved speeding up 35mm spooling machines (the machines that make 35mm film cartridges which are proprietary) from the long standing 56 parts per minute to 61.5 parts per minute. When you hear of something like that, you think "Big deal, who cares"? Well, when you have 100 machines world wide and you can increase the amount of production by 10%, it adds up. What brand of cameras do you use? What is their max speed in frames per second? What storage capacity do you have? Does the camera use a hard drive for storage? Thanks.
We use Phantom and Photron cameras. They are both great for different things. The fastest we've gone up to [so far] is 325,000 frames a second - about 10,000x slower than real-life. When doing that speed, you get very low resolution images compared to the HD footage we normally try to achieve for the show, which is why we rarely go above 50,000fps unless it's necessary.
Jeff, You should check out my suggestion in the "Around the House" section. It's titled microwave special. It has some cool ideas and i think you might agree.
i have a question for anyone. Some topics have a "rating" ranging from 1-5 check marks. what is this? is this a way to show Jeff topics that people find particularly interesting? or are they ones that Jeff has checked out and is considering using on the show? Anyone know?
i just read this artilce, and i thought it be would interesting to see what this camera can do. The article says it can do six million images a second, and it is currently used to analyze blood flow. and i thought other people on this forum would find it interesting too.
My name is Eddie Gaffney and I just met you two at Starbucks on Newbury! (I was the one who works for an architect, but has a chemistry and environmental science background) So cool to meet you both! I love the show! I drew a blank (due to shock of seeing not one but TWO TV show hosts!) when you guys asked me, if I had some ideas. Well here are a few that I thought of in the past: 1. Using sodium to blow up a pumpkin! My middle school teacher did this and I think was the reason why I studied Chemistry and Environmental Science at school. 2. Fly fishing! I would love to see the slow motion of the different casts. This can be really cool! My cousin is a fly fishing guide in MT so if you need some one let me know. We have both fly fished for striped bass in Boston Harbour, so I think many people would like it! 3. Nail gun vs hammer. Don't think I need to explain this one, but I have a few ides if you interested. 4. Crushing a can by standing on it. You know, you stand on it and then someone touches the side to release the tension. 5. Skipping rocks. (I think you may have done this one)
Ok, that is enough for now but I can keep going. I am sure you get this often but mine as well ask... I would love to help out with any or all of these if they make the final cut. If not then I would love to see the real deal of a set and how it all happens. I'll do whatever it takes! Since it is local too!
Once again it was great to meet you both and best of luck in Season 3.
