I find sometimes Jeff a bit of annoyance.
a. He never tries thing out with heart. (For ex skateboarding , If I were to try out I would have given it a fair shot, even if I fall. Or the Pole jump. Or the taser.)
Also the part with Hammer, sticking out the tongue was not funnny, instead he could have tried the jack hammer.

Also his commentory while watching the slow-motion clips are not at all scientific (I wish the mythbusters were there instead).

Amen.

Although I must admit I've disliked just about every group of people Discovery has hired for these new shows. The group on Smash Lab or whatever it was called was so bad I simply couldnt watch it. They all talk far too much as well...less talky, more smashy!

At least they got it right with the Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs.

I already commented about the poor directing of the show. Add to that Jeff's annoying acting and tryouts and this show is going to the bucket.
He really is useless at trying things out (or he just doesn't try hard enough, but from his stance it doesn't look as if he's going to be any good at any of that) and his face's expressions in slow motion are even more annoying.
To make it watchable I just fast forward to the slo-mo parts (which make up 10% of the show.)
A waste of good equipment!

Hey -

I'm sorry if you guys aren't enjoying my presence on the show. That said, you see roughly 5 minutes for 12 hours of filming. The choice of what 5 minutes is not my decision to be made. For example, I did jackhammer; I fell skateboarding many times; pole vaulting is much harder than it looks; etc...

I mention a lot of scientific comments while we film, but other people decide what is shown and what is cut, and for the general audience, this is what they've chosen so far. If you're looking for more science I would really love for you to write Discovery and explicitly say you're looking for more, because it's in the raw footage.

I want you to know that I try all those things to the best of my ability [usually in the 5 minutes given for it], and if anything, it shows that all the things the pros make look easy, are skills to be appreciated.

I agree. This is a fantastic science program. I cannot believe people compare the evil mythbusters with a science show like this.

I will write discovery and tell them we want more science. The editing is too fast. I want to see the images slower and over and over again. And also they speed up to full speed before all of the effects are over. Keep the slow motion going until closer to the end of the effect.

some people just need to chill and watch the show..no one is 100% perfect.. that and the show is relatively new and people are too fast to judge... like Joe said you only see a fraction of what he dose per show..I guess what I am trying to say is watch the show as a whole don't ridicule the little pointless things.. in my personal opinion he is NOT annoying at all and dose his job just fine..

Um, yeah, I've got my preferences and all, but, its just not that serious. You could always see if they're hiring.

I agree about Smash Lab. The crew on that show was HORRIBLE. I felt like I was watching cable access.

The problem with the show isn't Jeff. It's the writer for the narrator and the narrator himself. I already posted my comment about him in another thread.

I really like Timewarp so far... It is not only educational, it is also an extremely cool view... On top of that, it involves some pretty advanced technology like their crazy camera Big Grin.

Anyway, as far as the cast...

- The narrator is a goofy guy, sometimes really corny but it isn't something I care about all that much...

- The skinny, bald guy is pretty funny and also extremely goofy... I think he adds a comical look into the show...

- The guy with hair (no offense to the other guy) adds a scientific and a more educational feel for the show. I think he turns it from just a bunch of goofy, cool slow-mo's to an interesting show with a couple really cool slow-mo's.

-- I don't really know names just because I don't remember names well... I've heard lieberman before, just can't remember which one he is. --

Jeff...you make a valid point about "who" drives the programming. Do they also make you guys act "silly"? For example, make your co-star shake his head like a dog, or jump around like a 13-year old hyped up on Mountain Dew during the fireworks segment?

I'm guessing the reasoning is to draw the younger crowd, but it is a put off for a mature "40-something" that is watching for the science content.

Btw, I think you're doing a fine job...I appreciate you taking adhoc opportunities to film, such as when the fireworks caught the hay bale on fire and you turned a camera on the water from the fire hose! Good thinking. But just skip the lesser scientific "construction worker with no shirt" stuff...its cheesy.

I like both of the main guys. I don't like the narrator. For example, I actually wanted to hear about Newton's law of viscosity.

What? That was hilarious! My husband and I were laughing. We have so much fun with that show. In fact, it was like a famliy night with us...to watch Time Warp and Mythbusters. Time Warp is awesome because it is scientific, informative and funny. Stuff like Jeff with the hammer, or the co-star shaking his head like a dog, and the narrator's funny jokes are what MAKE the show what it is. It's perfect and I love it.

It seems like you guys want to watch one of those 70's 'science' shows, where the image is all grainy and the 'scientist' is wearing a lab coat while talking in a monotone voice. How boring! You guys are rude to Jeff, his staff, and the narrator for some reason. I don't get it.

I love the show. Jeff, I hope you take their crude insults and rudeness and chalk it up to people never being happy with anything. They always want more, more, more. I love the show. So does my husband.

I just hate all these negative fools on here. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to watch!

I actually love the show and the humor that's added, however, WANT MORE SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION!!!

In my opinion, Jeff is doing a great job and the narrator makes it better! Smile

But still, the scientific explanation is a bit too brief...

Hey Jeff!

I don't think you're annoying. You seem like a good guy.

The problem is, people are comparing you to the iconic characters on mythbusters and dirty jobs.

Dirty jobs would have been cancelled the first week if it weren't for Mike Rowe's personality and presence.

Same thing with Mythbusters.

Want a simple solution? Have more conflict. Do something that nearly breaks the high-speed cameras and then get yelled at for doing it. Scream at each other.

Right now, you guys are all smiles, nodding and agreeing, shaking hands and laughing. No one will admit it, but what we want is to see things go horribly, horribly, wrong.

When the CO2 bomb nearly destroyed the cameras, it was the show's most exciting moment.

and another thing: SHOW MORE HIGH SPEED! The show is 90% talking, reactions, and set-up. Get to it, already.

Jeff your a great guy, don't change a thing. I think your science is helpful in telling people and even people on the show what is going on with what is happening. It makes me cringe sometimes but also gives me good knowledge in my science classes HAHA! Again, don't change what yer doing.

Jeff, you're the best. These people have no idea what they're talking about. This show is the best, with all of the casting. Time Warp is being recorded every Wednesday on my television right now. Big Grin

While I agree with the concept of your post, I take issue with the fact that you would prefer those characters from "Mythbusters" to bring the science.

"Mythbusters" is less science than this show and the host of that program are much more annoying that the "hosts" of "Time Warp."

The problem over all is that the hosts are not TV personalities and instead just some schmoes. "Dirty Jobs" succeeds because of Mike Rowe. "Mythbusters" does not succeed because of Jamie and Hynie, it succeeds in spite of them (however I would argue that the show is basically explosion porno for young men and has little else going for it.)

I do agree that the hosts of "Time Warp" stink and I do not like them. I just would not make a statement as foolish as the one about the "Mythbusters" being better suited to host. "Time Warp" has more wrong with it than the hosts and bringing in hots who are equally awful would not help it.
