I just got done watching 2 episodes that i tivo'd. The blue man group and the roller coaster one.
It became apparent in the first 30 seconds that Matt is the host now. I hope they are just trying out a different approach, and realized that it does not work. I have nothing against Matt, his comment and antics were just fine in small doses, but not as the main host. Jeff carries a much more, believable I'd guess you'd say, voice. I guess maybe because he actually knows what he is saying, and you know Matt is just reading what someone else wrote for him. He may know a lot about cameras, and he should stick to talking about what he knows.
Now on the roller coaster show, I'm over 1/2 way through it and Jeff has said nothing, Matt has had a little more talk time than jeff, but they have a new announcer that has not stopped talking the whole time. It appears that the show has taken some ideas from people on here, and tried to explain EVERYTHING that's going on. Even added some snazzy animations and visual aides.
I really think they should have left it alone. It was a favorite of me and my kids, but now.... I don't know. My only complaint was that it took so long for new shows to come out. The death of any show is to have it disappear and then reappear, to the point that unless you have a DVR, you never get to see it.
I couldn't agree more. Matt just sounds bad - like he's reading a script - and not well really. I liked this show for the science angle - now it feels different with Jeff talking - he's just not a fit. Go back to the old approach to narration - PLEASE!!
PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE go back to the old announcer narrating NEARLY THE ENTIRE SHOW. I cannot take this any more. First episode you had the serious guy from the history channel. Now you have Matt a camera man. This just stinks. Talk to Jeff. In engineering we have a phrase "if it ain't broke don't fix it". YOUR OLD FORMAT WAS NOT BROKEN. IT WAS AWESOME. Great chemistry. Mostly narrated by the guy off-camera, with science comments by Jeff. Pay the announcer for the job, narrating, and the other guys for hosting. Come-on, three E-list celebrities cannot cost you guys that much money. :-P
I agree 100%. While some people complained about the announcer from Mythbusters doing the voice-over for Time Warp, Matt Kearney is about 100 times worse! Sorry Matt, you're just not NATURAL sounding when you read narration... It's awkward and forced. Just hire someone to do the voice-overs who's TRAINED to do it. I'm almost ready to stop watching Time Warp because of how painful it is to hear Matt struggle reading the copy. It's soooo bad, I had to STOP WATCHING my tivo'ed "Car crushing, lumberjacks..." episode to complain about Matt's voice-over here! Personally, I liked Robert Lee from Mythbusters doing it - his voice provided the proper "light bouncy" attitude that this goofy, fun show needed.
