Many of us wonder how popular Danny Forster is. Possibly how he ever got on TV... This poll is an easy way to see.

Kyle,
You do realize that any scientific poll would never preface the question the way you did? Your bias is evident in the question itself, and therefore could skew the results.

Well, I guess you could say that idea backfired...

Yes keep him. His perspective is the layman's perspective and not from a more techy point of view.

, the problem with a poll like this is that mostly young people vote. they percieve that danny is teaching them about all this construction stuff, HE IS NOT. the people building it is. if you want a real host. watch DYI network, show, Holmes on homes. he is a MAN, he is a real person and very intelligent and funny. i would rather eat a disease infested roadkill than see danny on another season of anything anywhere

Calemma,
Not everyone on TV needs to eminate masculanity in the way that you seem to want it.
As has been stated on this board before -- it doesn't seem Discovery was going for the tough guy image when they cast Danny -- who's obviously more of an architecture geek with an idiosyncratic nature. Personally I find the show quite clever, and Danny's humor quite sophisticated and quick witted. I relate to Danny because I'm not a tough guy -- I'm a nerdy computer programmer. But I still find these projects interesting and I like that I can see them through his eyes.
So maybe the show is just not for you. Lucky for you there are a lot of other shows on TV. So I would suggest stop being so angry, and find your masculine role models elsewhere. Just my 2 cents.

When I watch the show do you think people watch it to learn how to build the tallest building in the world or the biggest roller coaster. No, they want to know what work and sweat it takes to build it. I think he does a great job showing us the dedication and education to do the hard jobs nobody in America wants to do. Like building tunnels and bridges. I have family members that build bridges, tunnels, roller coasters, and nuclear facilities. Those family members like the show and watch it whenever it's on. They say he does a good job.

Vitonxl,
Well put. Out primary goal in making these shows is, first and foremost, to highlight and celebrate the people making these projects a reality. Danny is a vehicle through which we can trespass into their often intense work situations. The fact that Danny is not "one of them" only works to showcase their skills.
I will say this in response to Calemma -- I have had the unique opportunity to work with a lot of tv "hosts," and Danny is top notch. Many TV people are actors -- they don't care too much about what they are talking about, nor do they have expertise in it. Danny has a real passion for architecture and design, and a real ability to articulate often complex ideas. We take real pride in the fact that the show is mostly improvised, and the situations are real. If Danny seems like a "girl" when he is traversing an 8 inch I beam 1200' up on the Shanghai World Financial Center.....well, I hate to break it to you -- but you would too. I'm not afraid of heights, and when I did it, I dry heaved.
And if young people are watching the show -- then great! Perhaps a few kids out there will become interested in design, architecture, and construction as a result. There's nothing wrong with that.

I dont care if he is masculine or not. I dont care if he is scared of heights or not. I can't listen to him whine about it, constantly. If you count the time spent discussing his fears of a myriad of dangerous situations, you will find that you have waisted a ton of time on his whining. Please take that time and teach us. He may have a passion for design, but no expertise in construction. Most of the project shave nothing to do with design, so he comes across like an idiot. I would suggest going back to watch the episode on rollercoasters. Count how much time he spent whining, or showing us what he looks like riding the coasters. My strong suggestion, as someone that loves this kind of show, is to make the show about the construction and engineering principles involved in these projects, and the people who build them, instead of about Danny's experiences and neurosis. I know of several people that won't watch the show because of his whining.

Danny is an excellent host! He is genuinely pleasurable with his geeky, yet sociable, approach. I particularly like the idea of him being “just a guy” and not the typically overtly intense and macho-ridden male television personality.

I like the show, I just get tire of being spoken to as though the viewers are 3rd grade students. Danny's constant, and over exaggerated, hand gestures are somewhat annoying; certainly a bit insulting to those he's speaking to who get hand gestures in their face during an interview.
Additionally, his asking the same question, after being answered by the responder, is also maddening; as in tonight's episode about the Panama Canal. The foreman says, 4 times, they cannot use explosives at night & explosives cannot stay in the ground overnight. No sooner than the foreman makes the statement a 4th time, Danny repeats again; "we can't detonate at night....." Yes Danny, we get the point.
I do give credit to the show's producers who have managed to stay away from crazy zoom in/zoom out camera shots or unfocused to focused. The History Channel loves to do that and it plays havoc with the eyes. Not sure why other channels do this, a poor attempt to make us feel like were there.

This show is for everyday people who have interest in: - architecture - construction - complex renovations - interior design - are just flipping through to find something interesting.
As he said before, he just graduated architecture school to find out what's behind the drawing plans. If you think this is too silly for you, flip the channel and move on. This show is for everyone who has a clue or doesn't have a clue. I'm an architect student and I learn alot about the episodes. Because we, architect students, are looking for inspiration from the most complex buildings on earth. And Danny's throughly explanation is what I like. I never miss a show. Great work Danny, keep it up.

I only watch the show to see the look of utter contempt that almost everyone has on their faces when they meet this stupid guy. His fears are obviously faked because he himself is so utterly fake, I have no idea how he got the job, he must be related to the show's producers because he is one of the most cringeworthy people on tv.
