I really enjoy this show, and I enjoy Danny the host. He does a great job explaining complex things. However, Danny... you gotta get over the height thing. Do something... anything. It takes over the show. You are our eyes, and we are waiting for you to get to the top of [some tall structure] and ponder the meaning of life (it sure seemed quiet at the top of the tallest building...). I was hoping you'd get up there and go "wow, this is really cool... you can't even hear horns on the street!".

Look at Mike Rowe on the suspension bridge. He just looked down and chuckled. His guide pointed out that not many people get to have that kind of view, and the guide is right. You are blessed to be able to see things and go places most of the public never will. So take a gazillion drugs, go get hypnosis, do something. Just find a way to fix your fear of heights and this show will be perfect!

Or quit, so we can have a more normal person hosting the show. That way we can actually enjoy the facts and where you are, not listen to you whine like a girl every 2 minutes.

It seems to me there is a lot more whining on these boards than there is in the show.

Can we please stop comparing Danny to Mike Rowe. There is an obsession with Mike Rowe on these boards which makes me uneasy. Despite the fact that some of you would like to have MIke Rowe host everything on TV, including QVC (which he once did), he simply cannot. Do you really want a Discovery Channel that's all Mike Rowe? (Rhetorical question). And by hiring Danny, I don't think that Discovery was looking for a Mike Rowe clone. In fact, I think they were looking for someone very different, which is what they got.

Personally, I like Danny's 'everyman' appeal. And I think it's so effective that a lot of people on the board watch the show and think, "hey I could do that." THat's the point.

goatgland you are so right. There is more whining here. In regards to the hieghts ... personally when I watch shows like this and the person just climbs up something scary without even flinching and I am sitting on my couch in terror of seeing it on the TV it make me feel like an idiot, but seeing Danny struggle creates a connection. It helps make the show real.

Danny is an excellent host! He is genuinely pleasurable with his geeky, yet sociable, approach. I particularly like the idea of him being “just a guy” and not the typically overtly intense and macho-ridden male television personality.
