I mean has he ever even designed or worked for a firm? asside from the one he started with a GREAT partner a little while -not knocking the guy for launching a firm via the fame from the show...

sure he may have gone to Harvard...but if you talk to any legitimate architect- such as Peter Eisenman (who you love to feature and rightly so!) - if Discovery keeps referring to Danny as an Architect...it's an insult to real architects...Danny is a nice enough guy, great for some light comic relief but it looks he is being fed his lines...

Powderhouse productions... find a better host! Danny would be great on a kids science show me thinks..

in fact get a real architect (that earned his or her chops) to host the show! and call it

Altaholic,

You make a lot of assumptions and all of them are wrong. Danny is indeed an active architect. The show is improvised and there are no lines fed to Danny.

OK - please show me the one building he has designed himself? I have searched the internet a lot and talked to some folks at Architecture Schools and nobody that I know knows of his portfolio..I could be wrong.

your telling me when he is in front of the green screen he is not reading from a script or prompter?

It's not a secret that Danny just graduated from Architecture school last year -- that fact is in the opening dialog of the show. It is indeed one of the central premises of the show -- recent grad with a theoretical background going out to see the practical side of design/build. I do know he also worked at Pei Cobb Freed and partners for a time.

I am aware of two projects that Danny's firm is currently designing/building -- one is a green house in Michigan (yes, I've seen the pictures, it's currently under construction and is really beautiful) and the other is a renovation project in New Jersey.

When we did the green screens the first season season (they were eliminated from this season), there was no teleprompter or cue cards. Of course the dialog had been written, often by Danny with his producer, as those shots involve a complicated interaction of narration and graphics and need to be scripted. In the field, there is obviously no teleprompter.

You seem to know a lot about Danny. In the spirit of openness, why not sign with your real name?

jetarchitect-
The AIA website is poorly designed..I can't figure out how to look up a name...just a firm and their speciality.

JasonlongoDP- I don't mean to trash your guy..there are plenty of other threads that do that...as well as some die hard defenders of him...
all I wanted to know was if he is a "real" proven architect... I went to law school but I never took the bar..so I don't call myself an attorney...but I used to work for Design Within Reach..my name is Kyle...so that is why I know people at architecture firms and schools

sorry to have cheesed you off...I do appreciate your camera work..which is the only reason worth watching IMHO!

hope you had a great holiday and happy new year!

Jetarchitect,

You have been on a crusade bashing Danny on these boards for awhile. My gut tells me that the reason you don't like Danny is that you are actually Stephen from coolworldtv.com, and you are trying to pitch YOURSELF for the show as well as using these forums to pitch your own show. I would go so far as to guess that you are also posting as Altaholic as well, as his posts carry a very similar message and writing style as yours, they are usually posted within minutes of each other, and they all carry a similar message of questioning Danny and his experience level. In some threads you even go so far as to have conversations with yourself! Bravo! I admire your attempt at subversive marketing, but your integrity is another matter altogether. You are doing this in a very dishonest way.

My biggest problem with these forums is the anonymity they provide. It really lowers the level of discourse to a level where it's difficult to have constructive conversations.

Ok The young man just got out of school. When and where did he intern? Internship for Architects ... at least a few years? When did he sit for the tests to become a registered Architect?
ok If he is somehow a registered Architect than in what state?
If he is not registered than they should only present him as ajust a graduate Architect or as an intern ....
But then they also pass him off as an Engineer.....

To Jason,

I was informed about this forum today and was very unhappy about it all. There has indeed been an overzealous associate advocating for me. Or at least attempting to do so. As you may not know, we have an agreement with a reputable production company and a very well known agency working on our behalf. They are working to make the Coolworld Show a reality. I have no interest in trying to replace Danny. To me, it doesn't even make any sense. Moreover, the specifics of my agreement with my production company would even prevent such a thing. It is altogether an impossibility. That being said, I apologize for the antics. I think you know me a little, and this is not how I conduct myself. I would like it if you would call (I think you have my information.) me to discuss. And finally, I have asked to have all of the negative posts removed. Hopefully, they wil be able to do so.

I wish you well with your show, and I do hope to hear from you.

man o man JasonLongoDP are you paranoid or what?
Big Grin

Dude- I didn't start a thread to bash your guy...there is a huge thread for that already.
this Stephen Guy - any one seems like a better host according to the posts on that other thread...Scottie Chapman is a good suggestion...

That Cool World Show has little hope I think...
the guy is an Ivy league name dropper...oh wait not unlike someone else I have seen ... Cool

all I wanted was an honest answer if Danny Forster was a REAL ARCHITECT....I deal with interior designers and architects for a living in a retail/wholesale environment...these design folks eat up these shows on HGTV, Discovery etc...alot of them want to be famous...they all have HUGE egos Roll Eyes
Granted some more deservedly than others. But some of these men and women toil in obscurity and to see your "architect" on TV - I feel it is a disservice to the profession. Basically you have made George Costanza's dream come true by airing your "architect" on National TV...here's an idea why not get Jason Alexander to host! Big Grin

I hope your weekend was well - been too busy to post let alone read these forums and the only reason I found them in the first place was Travel Channel was screaming about them...

I hope Art Attack gets picked up- best show in the line up...looks like He got all his former students to post ...

your efforts would seem better focused on the "The Why This Guy for a Host Thread"...

So in short... Danny IMHO is not a true
architect...thats all I am saying nothing more.

He seems like a nice guy, who got a lucky break
can't fault him for that.
