So this has been brought up once I believe but since people are too lazy to look up links on their own , I will in turn be too lazy to look for the thread.

The Question is:

Why has the ICR not allowed an Animal Planet Film crew aboard their ships to show their side of the action, Since they are performing a scientificly legal job, one can only wonder why they don't at least have a camera on the bridge to record something. Or at least get video of being pelted with stink bombs and prop foulers.

If it was my company I would not want to be on a show that portrays my company as the victim of terroristic acts at sea and being accused time and time again of illegal activities, I would want a film crew to show the legal actions my company is under taking and the way in which they conduct scientific research.

They have cameras on deck.
You can tell from the videos posted on their webpage and occasionally put out to refute ridiculous bs from Watson&friends.

Next.

Because RIVR media never asked them and have admitted to this. I believe there is an article, if anyone has the link to it?

What makes you say that the IRC "didn't allow" filming? RIVR Media didn't WANT to show the whalers point of view.

"Producers doubted they would be given access to Japanese whaling boats, so they didn't try.

"Makers of "Whale Wars" made no attempt to get the Japanese side of the story at all, Lundgren said."

"I'm not sure we wanted to be telling the story of the Japanese whalers," he said. "We wanted to go down there and tell the story of what motivates these people who are trying to stop the whaling."

This is the thread.

So,Animal Planet has to be asked before they can cover the Japanese side of this? Why don't they contact the Japanese companies and offer to put camera crews aboard during their next season and show BOTH sides instead of just one?Just show the story and not seem to take sides seems smarter to me.
Their parent company can afford crews and cameras on numerous crab fishing boats for another show and they seem to be making a mint off that.Maybe Thom Beers doesn't want anything to do with a stiory shown as one sidedly as this one?

seriously the ICR should be banging down the doors of Animal Planet to make sure they get cameras aboard their ships for this upcoming season, so that their side can be shown as well. I think this would put some extreme truth to the show as a whole. Since the SSCS are nothing but terrorists and the ICR is killing defenseless whales having a real film crew aboard at least one harpoon vessel and the Nisshin Maru would put a lot of things into perspective.

You seriously expect the whalers to allow camera men from AP on their ship?

Why so they can keep the SS terrorists updated on their position at all times?

I think they'll continue to do as they are and just keep documenting the attacks and harassment done by the SS terrorists themselves and posting it to their website.

Why would the ICR contact Animal Planet? Whale Wars is only aired by them, the filming is done under RIVR productions.

And why would the Captains (real ones) of the Japanese fleet want possible sabatours, non-Japanese speaking, unknown people on board their ships? And a real film crew as compared to the fake one on the SBTH?

The whales are not defenseless, they just haven't figured out to make quick turns or dive and reverse direction. They enjoy racing the ships.
