It is obvious with the overwhelming support here for whaling, that whale wars has failed to sway or influence others to take action against the ICR ( the whaling company featured on the show ) and there for the show should be taken off the air. Paul Watson needs to just pack his bags and stop taking actions to protect whales.

there just is no support for the sscs on this forum let alone any support for the protection of whales on this forum, i guess the world does not need whales after all.

the sscs has been defeated, what will all of you do now ?

Oh man, I surely hope they don't take it off the air. I would indeed miss my favorite seasonal comedy of errors show.

If it did get taken off the air, I would like to see a sequel. Maybe PW can take the SI back to norwegian or icelandic waters and once again attempt his eco terrorism there. THAT would make for great TV!

If the purpose of the Whale Wars program was to serve as a vehicle to support Watson's SSCS views, then it fails miserably. However, Animal Planet and Discovery are in the entertainment business. They air programming that they hope will draw an audience of a certain demographic so they can sell advertising space to sponsors. They do this for profit! Eek In this sense, Whale Wars is very successful. It is one of their highest rated programs. The edit creates a sense of drama where none actually exists and the show is very entertaining to watch. The show will likely air as long as Watson is willing to partcipate and as the recent lampooning by South Park shows, Watson considers any publicity to be good publicity.

Yap, I would definitely see the show in the Northern waters. The Norwegian authorities must be waiting for it Wink

According to to the SSCS history
quote:
1994--The Whales Forever(a SSCS ship) was rammed by the Norwegian destroyer Andenes, fired upon, and had two depth charges deployed under the hull. Although suffering significant damage, the Whales Forever prevented the Norwegians from boarding and returned to the Shetland Islands having severely embarrassed the Norwegian authorities.--

PW's too much of a media whore to walk away from the show. You are right in saying that if Whale Wars' goal was to bring more people to the cause than it has failed. What it has done is provided the public with the first comedy with a terrorism backdrop.

I hope they are all put in a jail somewhere in the near future for their actions, Watson in particular.
However, as long as they're out there, I'll continue watching WW and hope that AP continues to put their bigotry on display for the english speaking world to see.

Whale Wars has done some good it has shown Paul Watson & the SSCS are just terrorist and should be thrown in jail. Anyone that gives money to the SSCS are supporting terrorist.

I cared about the whales before this show but research has shown the Minke whales are abundant and should be harvested since they can reduce so fast that it is helping the environment and really endanger species of whales recover. Without killing the Minke they would over produce and eat all the feedstock and eliminate all the other slower breading species of whales.

It's the best McHale's navy sequel ever envisioned. Captain Binghampton and his sidekick remade as eco-hobos is absolutely iconic.

Maybe next year they do it like the Simpson's; Mr. Burns and Smithers wander through the ocean trying to catch Bart.

I agree that this site is not the world. If "Whale Wars" is dumped, there are other shows on TV to watch and even better,it's deer season where I live.Maybe I won't get skunked again this year.
The people who support the sea shepherds are being taken in by others who don't have much more than a slick advertising gimmick.
I'm not sure what that gimmick is but it doesn't lure me to their point of view.

Well at least Paul Watson and done some good with Whale Wars in getting more people wanting to kill whales. Lulz...Way to go Paul...Lulz...

"South Korea’s move to permit whaling again comes at a time when awareness and debate about whaling has reached a new peak, in part because of the popular Animal Planet series “Whale Wars.”"
