I am a 31 year old married mother of two. I am a stay at home housewife. Growing up I couldn't wait to be a mom. I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old. Two years ago I was babysitting an infant of 8 weeks old. I had been watching him for about 4 weeks. When I first starting watching him at 3 1/2 to 4 weeks old, his umbilical cord was rotten and still attached. I had an experience with him where I couldn't wake him. His breathing was always slow, deep, and raspy. On that particular day, the second time I couldn't wake him, he stopped breathing. I immediatly called 911 and began infant CPR. Two days later he passed away. I have been incarcerated ever since. I am charged with capital murder and have been trying to prove my innocense. I am worried my lawyer isnt doing everything he can and I will be going to trial at the end of this month. I know there is alot of controversy with shaken baby syndrome and I need your help, please. I dont want to go to prison for something I didn't do! I want to finish raising my children. Please, can you help me? Thank you for your time.
for the record Shaken Baby Syndrome occurs more often than we think: each year 1200-1600 cases affect children under 2 years of age in this country. The diagnosis is not new it has been in existence since 1972. For the diagnosis to be made there must be 3 symptoms: retinal hemorrhaging, intracranial bleeding which may bleeding in subdura or subarachnoid spaces and cerebral swelling. Diagnosis is also made by narrowing down the timing of the injuries via MRI or C-T SCANS. Thus the last person who touched the baby when she was well is always considered the first suspect. There are no secrets in life so if you are incarcerated and are truly innocent, the truth will come out.I dont know what state you are in but if you were in some states you would have gotten a slap on the wrist/probation.
